I don't, since I stay home, but it takes husband and son about 20-30 minutes in the morning to cross the city; coming home can be from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, depending upon the traffic - we're in the City of Bridges with not enough bridges for our increasing population (a new bridge will open this year).

Oh the joys of commuting to and from work. Well since I drive it is wonderful, about 10-12 min one way. However for those that know the delays when using Public Transit, that same commute would be over an hour one way with transfers and waiting. Most of my adult working life was spent getting to and from work using TTC, or on my bike when I lived in the downtown core.

I am very " anti " travelling to get to work, meaning I have always valued working close to home if possible. Every day when I was starting my rounds and traveled East the few exits on the highway that it took, I would glance at the poor people going West EVERY day. Bumper to bumper always, and not moving all that much. That would be too much for me.

Current commute = 30 minutes one way.
During work commute = 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on where I am working that day.

Past commute = 1 hour one way
Past commute during a snow storm = 2 hours one way. The good news is that I beat my boss who was usually stuck on her street. She was a very bad boss to all her staff and this really embarrassed her.

Both jobs are very good - past and present - so no complaints.

DH's commute is about 12 hours (3 planes). Obviously, he hates it!!! We live in ON but he works in NFLD. Of course the commute isn't daily, 2 weeks on and then 5 days off. I'd be super happy with a 2 hour daily commute at this point, but sadly there are just no jobs for him in the province right now.

    No commute for me, SATM

My walk to work is about 5 minutes.

How far would I consider the farthest I'd put up with? Maybe a 20 minute walk to work. At least I'd get more of a workout

I usually have a 10 minute drive but when school is out(less drivers on the road..well my area anyway) my drive is only about 5 minutes..love it!!

The farthest i would commute is probably a 1/2hr drive. I don't like long drives..especially in the winter.

I hate to say this ..... but WORK??? What's that? (tee hee) I'm retired. But I do work as an occasional teacher and sometimes I have travelled and hour to work for 3 hours and then an hour back. But that wasn't every day. I also work in another county and would travel for 3.5 hours to work for 3 hours (but that's when I was visiting family and friends in that city.)

I was an itinerant teacher so I travelled all around our county.

But I usually had about a half hour drive to get to work.

How far do you commute every day? 5 kilometres one way. It takes 35 minutes in the morning because I walk. Fifteen minutes in the evening by car because of traffic. (Hubby picks me up.) I'm so glad hubby insisted that living close to work was more important than a bigger house further away.

How far would you commute for work? My longest commute was when I was a student and it took 90 minutes one way, by bus, to get to school. Once I started working, the longest was 40 minutes for 25 kilometres.

If I drive 1-15 min when I take public transit 1 hour each way

How far would I commute for work...max 1 hour - it would have to be a really great job to commute more then that.

I work 25 km away and it takes me 50 minuets each way on the bus. I only take that trip 3 times a week. The other days I work from home allowing more time with the kids.

If it was a dream job (other than parenting) I would change my method of transportation and travel up to 1h 30 min.

15 min walk for me. I drive on days when it rains or if it's especially cold, it's a 5 min drive.

Every time I've got a new job, I would always find a place to rent nearby so that I never had a long commute.
