you are SO VERY welcome my friend. was a true pleasure shopping for you.
and an update, thankfully. my son came downstairs while we were eating supper and had a glass of warm water (easier on the tummy) and a couple of crackers... and went back to bed. better then nothing. i'll keep an eye on him tonite.
we've been enjoying the evening too. its going to be quite the busy week, prepping the lawn for a lawn. (well seeding) and a new tree. then getting 'our' garden ready for planting soon.Be Strong

grrr I get so mad at my son... he is actually home tonight and asked if he can pick up his sister from work...she is done at 10:30pm....he says he has no gas. Meanwhile he drove half hour when he just got home from work today because a friend locked keys in his car. He was also suppose to take me to Walmart tonight but he didn`t want to.....I payed him 20.00 to take me...yup you read right paid my son to take me to buy grocerys for the house. So I asked him when he can take me Sunday he says when I get up. My response...I pay you 20.00 but you tell me when....makes no sense. Am I crazy for getting frustrated...

Hijinx...........sorry that you are going thru this! trust me it is not easy!! my hubby suffers from depression and anxiety. we have been together for almost 13 years. he did not get diagnosed until i was about 5 months pregnant with devin (who will be 8 in june). the way his depression came out was in the form of anger. just asking him how his day was would set him off! but there was no telling him that he needed help. he had to figure it out on his own and he did. he came home from work one day while i was doing the dishes. i had worked most of the day as well and as i am starting the dishwasher i asked him, "hey honey, how was your day?" he flew off the handle that i was just doing the dishes then (remember i had worked all day) and he was threatening to leave. i had had it by this time as it was not the first time he had done this and i told him "LEAVE". he told me to say it again and he would leave. so me being me, looked at him and said "Leave! Shall i pack your bags for you?" I got up and went to our room, grabbed a bag and started throwing his clothes into it. i guess he thought that i was serious cuz he said that he would stay. the next day he stayed home from work but went out about mid day. he did not tell me where he was going or what he was doing. a little while later he came home and handed me a prescription. i read on it ativan and effexor. i knew what ativan was for but asked him about the effexor. he told me that it was for depression and to help him control his temper. my point in all this is that it took him to realize that he needed help and that i could do nothing but stand behind him and be there for him when he needed it. to this day, i know when he is gonna crash (happened almost 2 months ago when he had a nervous breakdown). i knew that it was coming but i could not tell him that it was. i just had to stand back and let him crash, as hard as it is to watch. it took a week after he crashed before he would go and see his doctor and even then i had to coax him into doing that. he felt better as the doctor that he has now really understood how he was feeling. they changed up his meds, gave him some new ones and he is going to therapy. i have my man back now but it has taken almost 2 months for him to get there. hopefully he will be starting a new job soon too as he quit his job (even though he loved it) as that was part of the problem for him.
so basically like KK7 said, you just gotta distance yourself and be ready and available for when she is ready to come to you. it is hard, i know that, but once she realizes that you are not going to play her 'games' so to speak, she may turn herself around and seek the help that she needs. but honestly there is nothing that you can do to 'force' her to get help. she needs to talk to a professional who will validate her feelings and will help her deal with the way that she is feeling.
if you have any questions or need to vent, feel free to PM me. i will help you as much as i can!

Hopefully no one minds me commenting (still stalking the thread). Here is my family which is something I rarely talk about as most people know me and my family locally and we due to our family situation we keep this info within the family only.
Family situations are always super tricky. In my family it is my uncle. My dad's family owns a local company and over the years as we have grown things at the company change. My dad is now Vice Pres and my uncle is well he does not have a defined role right now but for years was a sales rep and a sales rep who would break all the rules. As we grew we started to hire more management staff a controller a sales manager as my dad could no longer over see these areas, just not enough hours in the day, my dad on average works 14 to 16 hours a day. So all of a sudden my Uncle was working under someone and did not like it. I think he thought the job should have been his but we know that wouldn't happen for many reasons. Needless to say over the years my Dad and Uncle have had many fights.
My uncle has now pushed pretty much everyone away. I used to spend more time with my Aunt and Uncle than I did my Dad and Step Mom. I know cannot tell you the last time I spoke with him I think it was last year at Thanksgiving. He has stopped coming all family events and holidays, he shocked everyone and showed up to Thanksgiving last year but missed Christmas and I think Easter (not sure on this one as I missed Easter). He used to be super close to my Oma he now rarely goes over, last year my Oma did a bit of a down slide with her health, she has Alzheimer's and got to the point where we can no longer leave her alone and she would stay in bed for days. So to try to coax her out a bit my dad, myself and my bro would go and have lunch with her every work day. It got to the point where she knew all of us and the rest of my Dad's family, but started to not recognize my uncle and his family (with the exception of his oldest who goes over on his own all the time as my Oma pretty much raised him).
My uncle always has and continues to in his mind pit his family vs my dad's. Which no one knows why he does this as in our family it is more by generation than family. there is my grandparents, there kids and now all of the grandkids no matter who's children they are, they are grouped together. Which is why I am as close with my cousin as I am my bro. But my Uncle always has to pit his family against my dad's which starts a lot a fight over stupid things purely because my Dad has more kids than my uncle. My uncle always says my Dad is trying to take over as he has more kids working for the company (currently working full time there is myself, my bro and half bro where is my uncle only has his son). I should note none of us have ever been forced too or told we have to work for company we are all free to follow another career path, most of us went to school for something else did not make it through school and ended up at the company and have made it our careers (myself, my bro and mt cousin have all been there over 5 years). We are all given jobs and expected to do them, we all have set hours we have to work and jobs to complete. My dad is big on working for what you have and we are not allowed to walk around like we are entitled or above others, we are expected to work harder because of our last name and for the most part most of us do.
Sadly every time my Dad tries to help my Uncle, my uncle shuts him out. Both my Dad and Uncle have back problems, my Uncle's are worse than my Dad's so my Dad has tried to get him help and into see the specialist my Dad has seen but my Uncle will not accept his help instead sees it as mt Dad trying to control his life. You can see at times the toll this takes on my Dad it is his brother and all he wants to do is help him and work with him but Uncle makes it almost impossible. Sadly in our case at times things happen in front of others so we cannot always keep it behind close doors as much as we try as our family works very hard at keeping work as work and home as home (we break the second one regularly family dinners become business dinners and discussions) but my Dad is always one to keep personal matters out of the business as co workers do not see them but sadly at times things happen in the office as hard as we try to avoid it. My dad has even gone to Uncle when it comes to family things and said we will not discuss work or the company but bring your family so we can have a nice family meal (this is super important right now as because as previously mentioned my Oma's health is not the best so family events are now super important to us), but my uncle just cannot seem to do it.
At this point most members of our family rarely see my Uncle, Aunt and there two girls even though we all used to be super close all of because my Uncle has pulled away and even though it is still upsetting we do not dwell on it any longer it is no longer about them not coming it is about why we are there. Only really hard times is when Oma asks where he is, but to be honest at this point someone usually makes up an excuse or something and we all go with it for the night.
So sadly sometimes no matter what you do the only option you have to do what is right for you.

Thanks for sharing Ashley. It is so difficult when the older generation wants to know why someone is missing at family events. These family situations do present themselves in different ways don't they? I wish everyone would view Family as Family - no matter what. I wish you luck with dealing with your Uncle.

Hurtin a lil today

Was a little tipsy last night for a friend's bachelorette. Pole dancing class, drinking, party bus to the city, drinking, dinner, drinking, bar for dancing, more drinking, sleepy party bus home.
It was a lot of fun, but man...I can feel my age the next day!

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! The weather here is beautiful!!Last edited by K8's Fate; Sun, Apr 28th, 2013 at 10:51 AM.
