Hello everyone!!

Sheets, Gracesmommy - goodluck, got my toes and fingers crossed

I've been sick since Thursday - no voice (its slowly coming back), fever, cough, cold.. went to the Dr on Sunday... he was gonna prescribe me some cough syrup with codine in it, but i said no, cause i need to be awake with ds during the day and that stuff makes me go farrrrrrrrrrr away to lala land. Anyways, then he refused to prescribe me antibiotics, cuz he said my body should fight the virus. According to him, I have some "sort" of virus/infection - he doesn't know what, won't prescribe proper antibiotics.. tells me to take robitussin or any over the counter meds (and i do have a drug plan).

Is it normal for dr's to do this? Oh and when I went to see him on Sun, I had a fever, barely any voice, was coughing like crazy and had a runny nose

Antibiotics don't do anything for a viral infection, they will only work on bacterial ones.

I can understand not giving antibiotics to kids - I myself try not to give DD & DS any.. well, DD has only been on anti-b once and thats when her fever hit 104. But Im in my 30s, got 2 kids that I gotta run after and I really really really wanted the anti-b to get better fast i hate being sick especially when u want to crawl into bed and sleep..... the night before i had a fever and was shivering for like 3 hours, until my fever broke (took Tylenol)... then I overslept and forgot to wake DS up to get ready for school.... so he didn't go to school yesterday.

unfortunately yes, if you've say got a cut and a foreign body got into it, dirt etc, you get an infection then they prescribe anti's. take it from me. its not fun..
sometimes you need to just let your body do its things. it will build up your system for the next time. hope you feel better soon Angel.

well thanks to the lovely storm we had last night, we no longer have half a front lawn. dh seeded it two weeks ago.. pfft . gone.

Oh ok over here, just still no cable or net. As long as I live in the building i'm in I'll never have cable because I owe them over $800 but I'll have net again in a couple months..off because my time at library is almost done.

doctors don't give antibiotics for cold related things anymore bc they don't actually help the virus

try lots of raw garlic (cut into chunks and swallow like a pill with water)
