I have been taking a food supplement called Chlorella to give me an energy boost. I have chronic fatigue and chronic insomnia so this gives me energy to do something besides curling in bed all day. So far so good but after about 1 month I lost like 8 lbs with no change in diet and exercise. I bought a year supply of the stuff before realized that it caused me to lose so much weight. I will have a blood test to rule out any illness but I think the culprit is the supplement. Finally find something to give me the energy I need and it does not work in the long run.
I'm down to 111-112 lbs range...if I lose any more I'll have to stop. Don't feel comfortable going below 110 lbs.

I am wondering which brand of Chlorella you took? I read just briefly about this, and some types depending on how they manufacture the algae to make the supplement will effect what it does to your body. Some types have caused mercury type poisoning because they did not grow the stuff in sunlight and used tap water which added unwanted things to the supplement upon completion.
It is like every other thing out there ( I remember pure Stevia which was awesome, then having so many awful substandard versions available using the Stevia plant name )
Just check on the origins of the one you bought to see what they say about it.

If you have more energy now, then it is natural you will lose weight. You are probably doing more.
Ever seen a chiropractor? I became aware recently, that they can help with energy lose and a bunch of other ailments.

@ walkonby: I took this one http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swans...herSize=SWK001 made in Japan, quality should be okay.
@ Natalka: I did mentioned to one of my doctor and she didn't seem to concern, it's a food supplement kinda like eating seaweed. Plus I only take 10 to 15 (small) pills per day from their recommend dosage of 45 pills per day. My fat reserve from around my belly is almost gone.

I hope you're able to get some sleep! If you're fatigued and have insomnia, does the energy supplement wear you down even more? Its like you're running on E, but you put a tiger in your tank!

No it gives me good energy (caffeine makes me even more tired), I am able to go for walk if I want to. With supplement I can, without it I experience shortness of breath, exhaustion, tiredness ect...
I don't know, I'll just have to stop for 1 week / lower dosage to see if my weight goes up.
As for the sleeping problem...I have this for 15 years now, have given up hope. I take rx strength sleeping aid almost every night.Last edited by Decaf; Sat, Jun 1st, 2013 at 01:34 PM.

Oh Decaf I feel badly that you have had to take such a strength of sleeping aids on a regular basis. Best of luck with getting your weight back up and finding a solution to the supplements.

Sorry, I wouldn't know, usually I get my order sent to a US address so I can qualify for free shipping. They have 1 year money back guarantee though.

I tried to get my body to sleep naturally without any success, after many years of sleep deprived I have to accept the fact that I need sleep (at least 4 - 6 hrs) per night so the prescription med did help me to get some deep sleep (REM sleep cycle). It only help me sleep for a 3 hours and then I woke up again and take another 1.
@ Happy_me24: They are tiny pills and some people only take a few per day. I am a bit worry about my weight now, going to see my dr. next week. Ironically, before I was a bit overweight in the belly area and was like I'll never lose those stubborn fat without exercising and now it happened magically and I am worried.Last edited by Decaf; Sat, Jun 1st, 2013 at 02:45 PM.
