Does anyone know how to get a 5 year old to sleep in past 5:15? It's gotten ridiculous lately

Can we swap kids? I can barely drag my 9yo out of bed at 8am.

g'afternoon! DD is feeling much better today - thanks for all the well wishes

sheets - i went thru that phase with DS earlier this year - my mother suggested tiring him out - cuz I used to think that since he was in school all day, he used up all his energy outside during lunch and snack breaks - but i was wrong... so i took my mother's advice and started taking him to the park around 5pm... let him play for an hour... or even outside the house with the kids... then he'd come home exhausted and sleep/snore thru the night.

Howeverrrrrrrr before taking my mother's advice (shes got wayy too much advice and i usually pick and choose what to listen to, lol)... anyways.. when he'd wake up around 5:30 - 6, he'd come to our room to wake me up of course, and i'd be a grump and have him lie down inbetween his father and myself.. wrap my arm around him and go to sleep.. he'd fall back to sleep too... OR if that didn't work, he'd turn on the tv (very low) .. in our room and watch tv until my alarm went off......
As u can see, my mother's advice made more sense, lol.

Hang him/her upside down by the toes in the closet. Close the door and you don't have to worry about what time the kid wakes up, you won't hear the racket.
Seriously though, maybe keeping him/her up later will help. No naps during the day. Lots of exercise in the evenings as well, tires them out. Isn't parenthood fun?

Angel, our grandson gets up early and sneaks into his parents' room to have a snuggle before they have to wake up...then daddy hits the shower because he leaves early and our DD loves snuggling with him, and yes, usually the tv is on. Not something our kidlings did, but if that's what he needs in the morning, then so be it...At least DD can fall asleep for a while longer until, as you say, the alarm goes off...
Hon...this too, shall pass...and all too quickly!

Well.....two quiches done, beds changed, laundry done, weeds pulled among our hosta border (an excuse to get outside), a Tuscan spread made...um.....and hubby sent out for more groceries! Still on the run with stuff to do...If I don't get back on, have a great weekend, everyone!!

Dan....your Lady's too funny..claiming to have a nightmare and clocking you. Looking back...something you said??? JK!!!!
Gosh....even tho' I'm joking....I guess it's not funny for a lot of people out there.........

OMG!!! LOL!! I was wondering what the heck that noise was, then realized it's waves crashing onto a beach because I have the nature 'music' channel on!!! It was all birdies and pretty music, then this! Whew! Thought I was losin' it! Again!

surprise internal audit...after a scheduled client audit of the project...
heading home...maybe fabric shopping with the lady...then drinks.

tiring day here, after getting up to the store i realize (y i didn't check before hand) that the coupons i had did not match the product i was PM. and the smell of what was on sale. blegh..
well on a good note hubby has promised to paint the dining room tonite.. if it does get done.. i may not be on til tomorrow .. have to thank him somehow
