I go to Cuba every year... have not stayed where your son is going. I am assuming your son has had his twinrex and such.
MOST of the water in cuba is okay to drink ON RESORTS as most have their own water purification systems- if you are worried- he can buy bottled water for around $1/bottle. Off resort = BOTTLE WATER ONLY!
The internet access has always been hit and miss for us. I don't know if all cel phones work there. We could pay at one- $5/hour - $7/20min - included -- it depends on what the resort offers.
My tips for Cuba:
Bring Charmin to go. Toilet paper is not available off resort.
Bring Pepto(just in case)
Bring a small bottle of febreeze (or any smelly) - some rooms smell musty
Sunscreen & Bugspray
Also, if your son is a picky eater- you might want to pack some snack type things - 2 star or 5 star- Cuban food is often "bland" - I have never been hungry but I don't expect Prime Rib in Cuba either. And peanut butter/ketchup are not available if he loves it- pack it.
You can pm me if you want. I LOVE Cuba and I'm sure I will think of something else to add.

I wonder also...lol I don't know if it is cheaper but I do know exactly what is in it ...that is a tad more impotant to me

When we went we contacted our cell providers and we paid an international flat fee of $7.50 so that we didn't get over charged for texting.....
One thing that did happen when my mom recently went to Mexico...I called the 1-800 number for the resort she was at thinking it would be free...and they weren't free calls !!
Her Landline provider told us that the number actually belonged to another company and the number gets forwarded so it appears you are calling a "free" number but you aren't ....so be careful about calling...

I have never really weighed it out but for us since my mom does a lot of baking most of the ingredients are in the house. For the most part the biggest costs are the flour (which we buy the 10 kgs bags at Christmas when they go on sale for under $10) and the yeast which I believe was $4 for the jar and it will probably expire before I use it all. Other than that most ingredients are a maybe a table spoon or 2 and are items you have in the house (salt, sugar, oil).
But I should probably note we do still buy store bought bread as this bread does not last as long and I do not make it all the time because we just would not eat it before it goes bad as we do not eat a lot of bread.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting a brag - I went to SDM on Sunday with my mom and scored Physicians formula makeup -scored 3 different ones for $4 each with MIR on all, so in the end I spent $13.25 but am getting back $23, so made just under $10! I also did 2 18,500 since my mom came and got a crap load of greenworks products. I made baskets to give to family this coming weekend with the greenworks.

Good morning

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Can't wait for mail to start up again today and see who gets packages!!
Re bread maker -for white bread we find it cheaper than store bought (however it doesn't keep as long), for others (WW/Rye etc) we find it costs about the same as store bought.
DH is feeling better but my youngest is sick today.....looks like it will be another long one. However I will deal with a sick toddler over a sick man any day....less whining.

If you want to try making your own bread without buying a bread machine... try your slow cooker
They have a link to bread recipes too (for the dough). Probably more work than just the breadmachine, but I think you can mix it up and have some in the fridge, pop it in the slow cooker to bake.

Oh Jenny, my hair looks like this on a daily basis, humidity or not! But.. I still think you look beautiful!
Ditto on what the other girls have said so far... best to check with your cell provider as rates can be insane, as well, I've heard some clients not having any service.. not sure if it has to do with some companies not having towers? Also.. as Pumpkin mentioned, if your son is the slightest bit picky for eating, bring snacks and granola bars.. it's not like you can just run to the corner store for a bag or doritos in Cuba! For eating at the restaurants, water, ice, veggies etc. are fine..however, I would watch a bit for the water in your room. I find it fine for brushing teeth, taking an Advil, etc... but if you are drinking lots of water for hydration, I'd stick with the bottled to be safe.
Slammy, your nails look awesome! Although.. I kinda knew they would.. if you decorate cakes, you've got a steady hand.. I'd love to try this but I think my dots might not look so... round... lol!
