I'm not against Royal Canin or any specific brand. . . .but this is just another one of many examples of unhealthy and bizarre ingredients manufacturers put in petfood. How about a nice heaping dish of . . . .chicken feathers. . .UGH! Homemade is 50 times better and CHEAPER

My cat was always bringing home and eating bizarre things. Frogs was by far the most annoying because he would hide them under my bed.

But yeah... they will eat every part of their hunted animals so feathers don't surprise me.

While I miss my cat to pieces (rip) I am glad I dont have to deal with dead animals anymore... bleh.

do they get put feathers into the dry food? I just recently bought a huge bag of the Oral Care for my dogs teeth. ( wanted to encourage that cleaning effect as they crunch down on these bigger pieces. )

NOT really supposed to be their source of nutrition though. . .they're just a small part and have very little nutritious value.
Just ask my cat. . . .she throws them up afterward.

I watched a show a few years back about ingredients in dog foods, and what some places will toss in and call it nutrition. Technically a leather boot is a protein, and anything swept up off the floor is a "meal". I will stick to a meat as a first ingredient and give the pooch an egg and human grade meat every now and then.
I wouldnt feed my family kraft dinner everyday and expect them to stay healthy, same goes for my dog.

if it says "meal" on the bag, then there is beak, feathers, toenails ect as part of the meal ingredients.

I give my dogs raw beef bones to chew on and my 10 yr. old Rottie/lab has pearly white teeth and sweet breath.

It's a myth and a marketing ploy that hard food cleans animals teeth. Do crackers and cookies clean our teeth? No. Think of dry pet food as a cookie. It's better to give them raw pieces of meat. I also find that once wet food has been in the fridge a while it congeals and scrubs their teeth a bit. My cats teeth actually look cleaner and smell better since I started feeding them wet food exclusively.
