I started gathering up documents today. Two of them will cost $25 each! The government tells you that you can claim all kinds of medical expenses, but when you do....... they nail you! Our medical expenses as a proportion of our income are high, that's how they first "found" us. THEN I was told by a person at Canada Revenue, that because my receipts sent in did not match exactly the amount I had claimed, that they would check back every couple of years! The laugh is, that I always found a few "extra" receipts and actually got back MORE money. You would think that I was AL CAPONE and they were trying to "nail" me for tax evasion! I can't understand how anyone who has no partner but who is ill themselves can jump through the kind of hoops they ask you to jump through.

Like - prove that you HAD to go to the particular specialist that was chosen - letters from both your own dr. and the dr. you went to.

Proof that you actually WENT to the appointment.

Proof that you actually needed someone to accompany you to the appointment. Proof about how you calculated how far away the appointment was.

I could go on and on. Each time I have sent - and I'm not kidding, approximately 90 pages of substantiation for our claims.

Crap, Avon...want a bother. My Mom was audited the year we had to place her in the nursing home...another Al Capone for you!
What gets my knickers in a twist is that while the gov't is chasing after the little people, businesses AND government employees are filing false returns if they're filing at ALL and getting away with it! Nickel and diming us, instead of picking up on the real criminals!

It was another gorgeous day here, did some shopping and picked up fabric for a Christmas wall-hanging for us, sat on the patio swing with Jenny and trying to squeeze the last of the summer out to enjoy. I look at the patio and envision the snow piled on it, and the melting pattern in the spring; I wish I could fast-forward time.....

Good foggy, foggy morning, Natalka, Dan, everyone! Going up to 20C again...yay!
i made my cranberry jelly the other day and made up a couple pretty jars for in-laws and SIL's brother to take back to TO....not sure what to do today, too early for pumpkin pie, but I did find a recipe for pumpkin yeast bread, so the bread machine may be hauled out today...I use it to make the dough, but bake it in the oven..maybe cut out my wall hanging....we'll see!
