Here is a copy of the email I just sent HR .. pretty self explanatory..
Let me know what you think..
Good morning,I am writing today to express to you some problems I had with the promotion that was going on last week. The promotion stated spend 50$ get a 10$ pharmaprix gift card. Since I had many presents and items I needed to buy I took advantage of it. I had also planned to get the other half of my necessities the following saturday (Nov 16th) during the 20x the points and use my gift cards and some coupons.
When I went to pay on the 20x the points event, the cashier told me first of all the the total of my purchase needs to be 50$ AFTER coupons, which is not the case as per what I was told by customer service last time. Then she tells me I can use the 5$ gift card I had but not the 10$ "gift card" i had received from your promotion just a few days before. She said it was like a coupon and would put my total under 50$. I was very upset about this as I went purposely to your store twice during the same week to take advantage of two great promotions, and this was all for nothing as I couldn't use the supposed gift card I obtained and in the end.. spent more money than I should have. Had I known you were giving out a coupon and not a gift card I would not have spent well over 100$ to take advantage of both promotions. On top of everything, I am now left with a coupon that has an expiry date when I was expecting a gift card that I could use whenever and how ever. This promotion was very misleading to say the least.
This happened at the candiac location on Jean-Leman street.
Also, would it be possible to have a copy of your coupon policy in FRENCH ?

Some promotions can be very misleading and it seems that at SDM, the coupon policy can be as well. What is good at one location is not necessarily good at another, or either a different cashier at the same location. I hope everything works out for you,

I learned the hard way that the $10 gift card promo is not actually a gift card but a short dated $10 coupon that can't be counted as the total towards a purchase.

Too bad, but I remember reading about this happening here before from SCers.

Didn't know those were like ''coupon card'' instead of "gift card". Glad I saw your post, I will be more careful in the future.

whenever they run the promo, the fine print always states that the gift card is a promotional card with an expiry. i've used them on 20x days and have gotten points for them.

Ugh, of all the Pharmaprix's not to shop at...not only are they not coupon friendly, they have no customer service skills at all. If you don't have a choice but to shop at that location, you might want to go later in the day...the evening staff have a little more class. Better yet, try shopping at the new one that opened last year on the corner of Taschereau and boul. St. Jean. I've never had any problems there.

I also hate how they call it a "gift card." If it has an expiry date, it's not a gift card. But in their fine print it explains that it is a "promotional card" that has an expiry date, so I guess they cover themselves that way

Yes, it's a store "promotional gift" card so it's like a $10 off coupon.

Sucks you had such a bad experience. I think this is a case of a badly informed cashier rather than an SDM policy. I used my "gift card" (I agree, should be called promo card in the big print, cause of expiry date) a few days ago, and the $10 counted in my base points amount.
