Oh, I wish, RC - hope you are better today!
Not normal here at all, had an awful evening and night -
Here, it's -48 w/c, temp is -36.
Last night, the power went out about 5:20 after a friggin frigid day... at that point, the only thing I could think of was thank goodness supper was cooked, because our son was coming over.
He arrived shortly after; he lives on the other side of the city, and as soon as he crossed the bridge he said he saw traffic lights and street/house lights were off, but there were workers/trucks out everywhere.
There were three neighbourhoods affected, but no explanation yet - hopefully will find out today.
So we had supper by candlelight - which was fine, til time was passing and it was getting colder and colder...
Ended up the power was out for just about four hours, the temp in the house at that time was 13.
I cried when it came on, I was so happy!
Then there was the cat thing... Taffy, especially, started acting very, very odd through this. She doesn't meow, but wouldn't stop 'talking' and purring - very weird for her. She did this for hours, and through the night. She never, ever comes on the bed, but she was waiting for me to go to bed, wanted to be under the covers snuggled to my legs and just kept wrapping herself around them. I just could not get to sleep for longer than 20 mins at a time, and she wouldn't leave me alone.
So I ended up just getting out of bed around 2 a.m., so at least my husband could get some sleep.
Gah, such a crazy life!
Hope everyone's day is good!

Morning gang. Bracing for the -41 wind chill that's on the way.
I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

Buses are cancelled here so I think I'll be keeping DD home today. Of course she's devastated. lol. Going to have to appease her with lots of crafts today. lol.
Hopefully tomorrow is better! I've got things to do. lol. Haven't left the house in 3 days (if I don't get to venture out today and it doesn't count sledding in the backyard for a bit). Going stir crazy!

thinking i might just put my turkey bits into a pot to simmer. make some turkey broth.
laundry is done. minus a small load of 'odd bits' that were missed.

Good morning all,
Kept the kids home today. The school buses are canceled!
And at -40 degrees I figured it was safer to be home than to try to walk to school, and possibly get frost bite!
Have a great day all, and if you're having extreme cold weather today and you don't have to be outside, then stay inside where it is safe and warm.

guess everyone was trying to keep warm today. not many on line in this room today....
the kids were home today. hope to send them back tomorrow. they both need to get their educational futures figured out.
made two HUGE batches of turkey soup today. plus hopefully two batches of bread.
candles going in every room to keep it warm. dh caved in and turned the heat on in our room last night. i like to keep our door partly closed. last night not such a good idea. it kept the warm air out.. whoops.
if i can get a little more energy will finish off chores.
stay warm all.. oh btw may head out in the morning to target.. if its not too bad ill hit loblaws and michael's too.Be Strong
