What's blooming in your yard?

I dunno, Ciel... after looking at some pictures of standard hyacinth, I'd say that you've got a variety of that. I plucked this from Google images.. if you look at the leaves and the flowers, they're essentially the same, yours just doesn't happen to have as many flowers on it.

A hyacinth for sure, they have less blooms as the years go by.

I never knew that about them, that's one spring bulb that I've never had.

Isn't this early to see flowers? We have had still cccc-older temps. Ciel are you in Ontario?

it's not too early for the spring bulbs, walker they like the cold (not frigid) temperatures

i saw all kinds of dandelions today... not in my yard though........ yet.....

@GoJays-dandelion leaves for salad! Saves you from buying them at the store...
Thanks to you and Patty for the flower identification! Quite certain it was a potted plant at some point and Mom put it into the flowerbed because she does not go out and buy plant bulbs. Have not sniffed the flowers but Mom did say they smell nice.
One daffodil opened today! A clump of 9 tulips have tight bulbs and a parrot tulip is also standing by...

I have some hyacinths out I will take pics later. You will see mine also are in their second year and have less flowers than last year. No tulips yet but lots of leaves. I will have to replant them this year as they are half the size as the first year. We had frost last night but it looks good for the next 2 weeks although we won't see 20 during the day for a while how depressing.

I am going to the farm Friday to get my flat but they will stay indoors for a while.

Don't forget, squirrels are great at relocating bulbs! So just because you think you didn't plant a flower doesn't mean a pesky squirrel didn't bring one over from someone else's yard to store for the winter.

ha ha! I spoke too soon! This morning when I went out for an errand two of my daffodils had opened!! The pic is not mine, wish it was!!

I have made some progress today in my garden box. Added 3 bags of compost, planted my 3 tomatoes I got a week ago from rcss for 1.49. This is my second year with the garden and I have a plan this year. Last year I just planted things randomly, and for easy access. This year I am organized, and am following the plans of square foot gardening. I relocated everything to maximize my space, and have planned out for my taller plants to the north size of the box.

I added edging around my mint so hopefully it stays contained this year. My garlic cloves I planted last year that seemed to have died off in the summer have made an appearance this spring. I don't have high hopes for them... Would like to try a pumpkin for my 3 year old. Hope it will vine out over the rocks.
Can't wait til my 3 different hydrangeas star blooming too!

I am going to cash in some of my airmiles tomorrow for a Home Depot card to get..
Jalepeno, cayenne, and bell peppers (had success with growing all of these last year)
rosemary- mine didn't survive this year Going to plant in a pot and bring inside. I guess they don't like vancouvers rainy winter
Seeds- peas, pumpkin, and a different leaf lettuce variety than the seeds I have from last year.

Any tips or suggestions?
