Good afternoon. Boss showed up today, first time in a few weeks.I got a raise and he left. This year what we would have got in a bonus we got in a raise. Helps in the long run but hurts summer vacation.

We find that sometimes it is really difficult to get all of us together. For Mother's Day, I'm baking a cake - probably a carrot cake cause it's one of our faves. We're going to have a Mother's Day coffee break together at my place. We're just going to spend an hour together & hopefully make some plans for a summer get away.



all this bacon talk made me think of a bacon carrot cake & of course there is recipes I found via google.



And.........of course - a poem!

Loocie is planning to bake a cake to share with my 2 sons,
It’s been 29 years that I proudly joined the ranks that we call Moms,
The passage of time become milestones, our very own family history,
Events carved with vivid recollection; to me there is no mystery,
My #1 son’s early arrival weighing inat less than 4 pounds,
& how I barely slept a wink, listening for baby sounds,
Hard to believe that they are men who grew up tried & true,
We’ve endured some challenging events, but we always came straight thru!
My boys have always inspired me & we’ve had some stellar times,
& the pair of them have been victims of many of Mother’s rhymes,
We often disagree on current events, especially those political,
Heated discussions are therapeutic, as long as they’re not overly critical,
It might be a quick visit we’ll have & I’ll supply the coffee & cake,
It won't be a rowdy time, just us guys sharing a nice little break.

jake didn't have a very good day yesterday. wouldn't eat, play.... Just slept.

that is till a friend stopped by. he perked right up, played, ate his dinner .... Thanks friend.

i guess because he slept most of wed., he had me up @ 5 this morning. I'm tired already. Lol

Leafs Extend Coach Carlyle Contract

Toronto Maple Leafs management extended the contract of head coach Randy Carlyle by two years. GM Dave Nonis announced at the same time that assistant coaches Dave Farrish, Scott Gordon and Greg Cronin would not return to the team next season.

Arrggghhh-I am trying to nail down dates and prices for a summer vacation. We usually fly out of Buffalo for many reasons, the main one is cost but we have been spoiled by how small and fast it is to get in and out of and have come to love it. As of today, the prices I am looking at are about $500 total cheaper out of Toronto Pearson and I dont want to have to come home from a long flight to an hour+ wait in the customs hall and then more time waiting for baggage plus traffic on the 401 coming home. The summer is the worst too! Hubby says just eat the extra and fly out of Buffalo and I know exactly what will happen-I will book everything and the price will drop. Of course, if I dont book everything, the price will go up!!!!!!!!!!! So frustrated with this....it is usually a much better price out of Buf, I dont get it!

The Hotel that we just had my sister's 50th (the millenium) has a shuttle to the airport with park and fly as well as Salvators Grand hotel in Williamsville.. really nice place too with a fantastic steak meal included..

It can be very frustrating booking air fares alahomom!!! I hate the fact that you don't know whether they will go up or down. It is so hard to know the right time to book. I've had them go up OR down after hesitating just a day or two. I don't find coming back from vacations too bad, getting the luggage hasn't taken us to long.....$500 is a bit. If you go the Buffalo route isn't that quite the drive back? Anyways, good luck making the right decision. Are you looking at Hawaii?

Well, thats it for me.. I have to go pick up a new rain barrel, pay my Mom's property taxes and over to her house to finally sign the papers to put the "for sale" sign on the lawn..I will cry and cry....LOL..I'm such a suck..see you all tomorrow
