A friend was telling me that a few weeks ago her sister had been rushed to emergency, intensive care the works..
Apparently her situation was so bad they put her in a coma to help her body handle it.
As soon as she started, she told me 'they seduced my sister into a coma"
I tried to focus.. dug my nails into my hands, bit my lip, but I lost it.. I couldn't help it and started laughing, hard & loud.. I laughed til tears came down, I had to bend over.. I felt so bad, I kept apologising, but it made me laugh more..
After I calmed down, I told her what she had said and she laughed too.. but I still felt bad!! anyone have any ideas on how to tune out that one word and stay focused when in this type of situation? This thread is currently associated with: N/ABe sure to click like and post a brag if you get the deal.. Well, I laughed just reading your post.
I'm the type of person where if I'm in a situation where it's super important to be serious - that's when the most random funny thing will pop into my head.
I find it very hard to at the least not smile.
I'm glad your friend was able to laugh with you too though - those are the best kind of friends to have - the ones that know you may be laughing at a silly slip, but that you still care and are concerned for what's happening with them

Thanks for the laugh! Oh, it just happens, it was good she laughed along!
You did nothing wrong, it actually probably made her feel good to have a lol.
Hope her sister is better.

sometimes laughter is what is needed in a hard situation
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I didn`t really laugh at this post BUT I ALWAYS laugh at inappropriate times or have made a bad jokes around stuff that isn`t funny at all.
It happens, we`re only human.

Reminds me of my Austrian friend who went to the funeral home to make pre-arrangements. She wanted to talk about the interment but mistakenly called it the 'entertainment'. The funeral director was so stunned that he didn't know what to say....she WISHED he had burst out laughing instead of looking horrified.
Sometimes laughter breaks the tension and it sounds like your friend may have needed the relief of a good laugh. So many coupons....so little time!

Aww, she probably needed that laugh to ease the stress. Don't feel bad, I have a horrible habit of laughing when people fall (as long as they don't hurt themselves!). I don't know what possesses me, it just happens!

Can I get that doctor's phone number please?
haha that made me laugh. I'm glad everything worked out in end.
Occasionally, I have supressed a laugh at inappropriate times. Hearing shocking news can sometimes trigger it. I think crying and laughing are very closely related in our wiring. Like you said you laughed till tears came down. You're wired to choose the more positive reaction and you focused on that slip of words like a life raft in a sad story. Sometimes that's what we need. The best things in life...aren't things

I have a hard time not laughing when someone hurts themselves. When I was younger and working in a restaurant I was serving my managers wife/family and in the kitchen my manager had just dropped a pan of hot pasta on his foot. I told the table, as I thought it was hilarious, and they were all like "oh no, is he ok?" and very serious. That was the first time I realized it may not always be appropriate to laugh!

I'm glad it all ended well. I have had that problem too. I went to a funeral for my best friend's sister's baby (very very sad)... They were singing Amazing Grace, and her little sister says to me, quite innocently, "why would they want to save a wrench?". I almost died right there, I had to step out as I was going to burst.
