Geez, wish I knew my husband's language - his family is messaging on Facebook that his Mom is very ill, and I can understand that little bit out of everything only.
I contacted a niece so hopefully she'll get back to me with info in English so I can have more info before I call my husband.
She's 89, and has been very healthy. Youngest daughter and her family have been living with her since before my FIL died.

Dan, I've tried any and all of them.
His language is Rusyn, which is a Carpathian type of Ukrainian, not widely spoken.
Plus, his family uses 'English' letters instead of Cyrillic, so translators recognize it as Slovenian, Bosnian, etc.
I just tried another one with the most recent message, with no luck again.
I'll have to wait and see if any one pities me, the lone English daughter-in-law.
Oh, husband just came home.

Nat, so unfortunate regarding the translations...wishing your MIL all the best...
Good morning, everyone!
Another cold, fall day here...I told hubby he might as well get the Christmas lights up before the snow flies!
AND, I walked down and back up those 4 stairs today all by myself! I even hoisted my walker up, grabbed my crutch, took several deep breaths, held it, and went right up. I still hold onto the handrail for dear life and put weight in my repaired leg for only a split second, but it's progress! My hubby was in the computer room, and I knew he wanted to leave me alone to do it, and he gave me a big congratulations when I was successful...lol!
Even a little independence feels SO good! We take so much for granted.....
Stay warm...or cool...and dry, everyone and enjoy your day!Last edited by Lynn49; Thu, Aug 14th, 2014 at 01:01 PM.

Husband translated everything - they have sent his Mom home from the hospital, she doesn't recognize anyone. No other information.
The medical system there is so crappy.... they just accept it as it is, don't question anything.
One of my husband's older brothers, the priest, is over there - just happens to be away from their home, but is on his way back - so hopefully once he gets there, he can assess things and we can get more information.
I've not been able to stop crying - I only met her once, she came to Canada for a visit - but my husband is his steeled, reserved self, and I just feel for him, obviously. Also for my son, it's his last grandparent - and he does remember meeting her in person, plus we have Skyped.
