who me? breakdown? and chickens?
told the old home is to sold, heck worth a ton, almost a million
(not that i see any darn)
driven to a new subdivision in Peterborough, didn't like it
but also didn't know it was either that or,,,,,
woke up to what i hoped was hearing the noise
of my brothers here to help bury our mom's last kitty, miss lilly.
(as i have been sleeping for around 40 hours, for months, sort of hard to keep
up with what is going on,)
looked out to see loud people pounding in a for sale sign, with dad
and joyce (the gf) looking on, dad really has no idea and it is not just
the darn alzheimer's - so house is sold in 3 days,
next took to an apt. that brother had paid first and last for,
said no thanks - lousy place but,,,people want me to sign lease, not doing.
here, bird feeders and trees for the migratory birds,
there parking lot,
and here the know that the area they live in - fly to live in
is to be torn down, demolished, my heart is breaking,
extra special furnace stopped working, in may ish?
so now a bit nippy, doing what i can to stop the pipes from
busting,
extra extra special 3 chickens showed up on saturday,
city animal help caught 1 - now once in a while 2
eating under the bird feeder.

@madchives , so sorry you're having to endure this. Sorry to be crass, but why will you not be benefiting from the sale of the home...? I may have missed something along the way...I'll keep you in my prayers.

lynn, this is the family home bought a year before i was born,
now under control of the 'powers of attorney' ie worst brother
(who bought his own million dollar home years ago, up a road
where their house is the end, lovely area in newmarket)
and dad's gf.
house is going to be destroyed, terrific location end of a crescent
in a neighbourhood where the old homes are too small, and
some people don't want to live where others have
terrific old growth trees, my russian olive tree which the birds love on
the front lawn.
just for the fun of it, this house was bought in 1955 for $15,500
(as i was told) and i guess was sold for around $900,000.
the condo they want to finish paying for is maybe $300,000
so yep poor me should not be heading to an apt without
birds to feed, neighbours i have not grown up knowing,
kids walking by on their way to my public school,
worst for the extra poor maddy cat (who cries to get outside now)
living in a place not safe for her to go outside.
granted as i can not afford this apt, apparently i will be subsidized,
not that any one says anything about that but a phone message.
thinking family very screwed up, mild version eh?
i do wonder if my dad understood what was going on if
this situation would be happening.
blah blah, i do bore myself, need a nap.
thankfully the neighbours knew someone who could help out
with the chickens, captured the last 2 - hoping the animal control people
who had the first one works out with a plan for them
and all will to go live on a farm.
ps thanks for the prayers lynn, hugs

Oh, Chives, I'm trying to understand, but why does it matter WHEN the family home was purchased? People always buy homes THEN have kids, who have every right to the home.
My Mom went through this with her equally selfish brother when her parents died in Winnipeg. He sold their home, moved into the parents' home with no compensation to other siblings THAT we know of! My Mom was considered by them to "not need the money" so....nada. And would you believe....when I was a pre-teen, I always loved the double photos of my Baba and Grandpa in their own puffed glass antique frames..you know the type of photos that were 'touched up' by the photographer or artist...Anyway, my Baba put my name behind each framed photo and guess what happened?!
I got the frames, alright, but those damn people took their photos OUT!!
Families, huh? Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em.
Sorry for what you're going through, my Friend.

So sorry you are going through tough changes - I know it's hard to move from a family home to an apartment or suite, I did that when I was very young.
It would not be usual for kids to benefit from a parents' home sale when a parent is still living. And, sometimes, even after their passing - in our case, only one child out of the six got the parental home.
Hoping things get better for you.
