I did my shop. No limit on cheese. So I did 2 transactions for the finish MIR. Got my 20 cheese. And bought chicken and pork roast etc. I got a lot of Airmiles so that was great. I am just short 101 AM now. But I don't need to book that hotel until March or so. Lots of time buying gas and such to get that last 100.

We don't fly so the only thing I can redeem for is hotels or Disneyland tickets. Our next vacation in a year or 2 will be hawaii or Disneyworld. The AM's is my way to save a little money each month. I am a stay at home Mom. So these types of saving are my contribution to our budget or savings. I get about 8-10,000 miles a year. I really don't want to have my miles devalued. So if we do Disneyworld and the tickets or hotels are not a good deal then what would I do with those miles. When I checked Florida flights earlier this year using the AM wasn't profitable at all. So we chose Disneyland again.

We used Airmiles mainly for Disneyland trips too. In the past we were able to get 7-day Disneyland tickets and return flights easily for the whole family. Last year we couldn't find any flights at good value so we redeemed 4 Annual Passes which worked well at the end as we ended up visiting the park 2 times within a year. I'm an AM junkie and will keep on collecting as long as the cost is low. I always remind myself that AM can be devalued anytime and don't leave a significant balance in the account for long period of time.

Blue Friday specials continue to be good to me. Stocked up on BD cheese, Kraft Shredded Cheese, Chicken Wings, Rye Bread, Water, Oranges and a few other things. Made 2 trips, so that I could get the spend $95 get 95 airmiles bonus both times. Spent $186.31 in total (+$6 in coupons) for both trips, and earned 867 airmiles worth $120.00 travel dollars to me. The best bang for our airmiles has always been all-inclusive vacations in Mexico. Hola (720 airmiles will save you $100.) When airmiles were easier to get we used airmiles once a year to pay for our vacation; now it takes 1.5 to 2 years to earn enough. It's a fun hobby though!

You don't need to make 2 trips to earn the 95 AM bonus each. Just separate the things you want to buy into 2 transactions & pay them separately.

Thanks for the link. I am not surprised they are taking out "their loss" on us the consumer. Disappointed yes.
It's time to reevaluate airmiles and whether they are worth it.

I would have been pushing 2 carts to carry all my items! Water takes up alot of space and is HEAVY! Easier to do in 2 transactions!

I think it depends on how many miles you average in a year, and if you pay to fly or not.
Right but as a serious Onyx collector(which she obviously is) you also have the personal shopper option. So if she wants to book a hotel and figures out the rate and it is only 6 cents, she can then look for the best deal online and then call in the personal shopper. I know that is about the same as cash miles, but you can choose to use it on a great deal where it would work out to be a better deal. So if you keep with dream miles you really have cash miles too (through the personal shopper) so best of both worlds. Just just IMO

    Some people do crosswords! Some...

Absolute best way to look at it IMO

The job of companies is to get as much money out your pocket as possible. Our job is to make sure they get the least!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the personal shopper option. I will look into this for sure.

I remember the personal shopper folks said can't use on items that can be booked online.
