Oleksandr Liptuha was killed on May 11, 2017 when he stepped on a land mine during a combat mission near Svitlodarsk Bulge, Donetsk Oblast.

Oleksandr was born on June 16, 1986 in Voznesensk (Mykolayiv Oblast). He served as Senior sergeant in the Engineer Platoon of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

21-yearold Yaroslav Smolinsky was laid to rest in his native Ditkivka on May 11,2017. He died in the war zone when a fellow soldier’s weapon accidentally fired in his direction.

Yaroslav was born on October 4, 1995 in Ditkivtsi, Ternopil Oblast. He served in the 4th Infantry Battalion (Uzhhorod) of the 2nd Separate Halychyna Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
He leaves behind his parents and three sisters.

Rostyslav Chypenko was laid to rest on May 11, 2017 in Poltava.
On May 8, during a reconnaissance mission near Maryinka, Donetsk Obl., Rostyslav was in the forefront of a team of four scouts when he hit on an explosive device. Covering his men, he suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to the legs and head, was immediately evacuated to the nearest hospital, but the doctors were not able to save him.

Rostyslav was born October 21, 1978 in Poltava. He was a Senior engineer and minesweeper serving in the Engineer Platoon of the 90th Batallion, 81st Separate Air Brigade. In civilian life he worked as a taxi driver. He enlisted in October 2016, and was deployed in different hotspots in the war zone – Avdiyivka, Kurakhove and Maryinka.
He leaves behind his wife and three children, a 13-year-old daughter and two sons (8 and 6 years old).

Russian proxies launch 61 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donetsk, Luhansk and Mariupol sectors.
Four Ukrainian servicement wounded. .

Russian terrorists purposely firing at and shelling civilian areas in and around Avdiyivka and Svitlodarsk Bulge. Four civilians killed on the spot and one seriously wounded. - projectile fell into the courtyard of a private house, three women and one man were killed, another man is now in hospital.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko cancels his appearance at the final of the Eurovision Song Contest because of the events in Avdiyivka.

"We planned to attend the finals of the song contest together with Maryna and invited our soldiers and people with disabilities to support Ukraine together, but after shooting in Avdiivka and killing civilians, I decided to cancel my stay at the Eurovision final," said in the statement on the president's page.

44-year-old David Sikharulidze, from Tbilisi, Georgia, died May 11, 2017 of shrapnel wounds to the abdomen as a result of a mortar attack in the village of Novoluhanske, Donetsk Oblast near Svitlodarsk Bulge.

David was an officer serving in the 24th Assault Battalion “Aidar” of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He fought against Russian and separatist forces in the war of Abkhazia in 1992-1993.
David graduated from the Military Academy of Georgia and the Bundeswehr Military College in Germany. He served as major in the Georgian army, taught at the Georgian National Training Center “Krtsanisi”. In 2015, he arrived in Ukraine and joined the Aidar Battalion, fighting the enemy in Novhorod, Maryinka, Svitlodarsk Bulge, etc.
He leaves behind his wife and two children.

Oleksiy Pudov passed away in Mechnikov Hospital, Dnipro on May 11, 2017. Oleksiy was gravely wounded on April 28 near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk Obl. Several internal organs were badly damaged and one of his legs was amputated. He was hospitalized in serious condition, and went through several operations.

Oleksiy was born on July 2, 1984 in Chuhuyiv, Kharkiv Oblast. He served in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
He leaves behind his wife and little daughter, Vasylyna.

Mothers of fallen heroes gather at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv - Mother's Day - to commemorate and pray for their loved ones.

Yevhen Holik, call sign “Zheka”, was laid to rest on May 7, 2017 in his native village of Pryyut. He died suddenly during leave in his home town. His death was most probably caused by a stroke due to multiple cerebral contusions suffered during combat missions.

Yevhen was from Pryyut, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Junior sergeant, commander of an antiaircraft missile platoon of the 3rd Battalion of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. In 2015, he volunteered for military service in the Carpathian Sich Company, and enlisted in the Armed Forces in September 2015. He participated in the fiercest battles in Pisky, Vodyane and Krymske.
Yevhen leaves behind his parents and brother.

May 18 - Deportation of the Crimean Tatars Memorial Day



Today, repression, persecution, kidnappings, and disappearances continue in occupied Crimea, and Crimean Tatars are prohibited from commemorating this tragic day.

In Kyiv on Independence Square the event "Spark a light in your heart" was held to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of Deportation of the Crimean Tatars.



Representatives of the public organization "Krimska Rodina" (Crimean Family) together with students of one of the Kyiv schools held an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Ukrainians on the Day of Vyshyvanka (national Ukrainian embroidered shirt) and wished national clothes inspired new victories.

"Let our national clothes inspire us to gain new victories! I congratulate everyone on the Vyshyvanka Day!"

Ukrainian embroidered shirt preseves the traditions of our people and unites Ukrainians from west to east.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in his congratulations on the occasion of the Vyshyvanka Day.

"This day we honor our national protective amulet – a beautiful Ukrainian embroidered shirt. It preserves the original traditions of our people and unites Ukrainians from west to east. I congratulate you on the Vyshyvanka Day!"

Rome - On the occasion of the World Vyshyvanka (Ukrainian embroidered shirt) Day, the Ukrainian women held a creative event in the historic part of the Italian capital.

Twelve Ukrainian beauties in national costumes walked in an improvised fashion parade from the Colosseum to the Piazza di Spagna, showing the Ukrainian traditions to the residents and guests of Rome.
The main goal of the parade was to popularize the embroidered costumes and remind the world that people are still dying in such a beautiful European country – Ukraine – as a result of the Russian aggression.
