I guess I spoke too soon. Seems like there’s more smoke from the fires this morning but at least it’s not like NYC ! Thank goodness I ordered our new air filters for our purifier so it should be here any day. I got the toxin filter which is great for fumes from cars and smoke too.

Just cut up the watermelon I bought the other day. It's actually a good one!
Eating a big bowl now and the rest is in the fridge- it won't last long!

Kitchen is clean. Now to decide the next thing to tackle.

good morning gals! Ty both @Frugalbigmama and @coupon girl wrt to how you extend the shelf life of your fresh raspberries. In the past I've tried gently rinsing the whole container of berries with my sink sprayer through a strainer, then lay them on paper towel to roll around and pat dry. Back into the clam-shell with a new sheet of paper towel in the bottom, but it made little difference. Washing them off somehow sped up the ripening?? No worries, I'll get through this blip of a First World problem.

I also bought a new watermelon today when I did a top up shop and filled the vehicle with gas, but have not cut it open yet....hoping for the best!
Do any of anyone's family members eat Stagg brand canned chili? Only my 2 guys here eat it, I cannot stomach even the look of it when they open up a can.

They were on sale for $1.99 at NF today and I grabbed them 24 cans! Three different types, Classic, Silverado and one called Southwest style Chicken with beans. When I turned to look over the nutritional label I gasped! Isn't is laughable that they list a serving as 1/2 a can? Neither of my guys eat a 1/2 can, in fact they open 3 cans and split them to make 2 servings for their work meal.

o.k. don't think that my plan is to poison them with high calories, sodium and fat but check out the label and the levels of stuff....it is a shocker.

@walkonby raspberries never last a day here. But that may change with ds1 gone. But I did try a hack I found on tik tok. Ok it was a tik tok on Facebook because I am not that cool. I washed and dried strawberries and then put them in a mason jar. I told the kids to not eat them for 5 days to see if it really kept them fresh and it worked. It’s supposed to work for grapes and raspberries too.
I have just loaded DS up with snacks and health and beauty stuff to get him through summer. He did ask if we can restock when we see him in August and of course I said yes. Today my sister in law was checking to see what he likes for snacks. This is the one who prefers grape tomatoes to chips so he is pretty easy to please.
Today he did an oil change on his car so I told him to use the CT points. He has a CT triangle card on my account that he pays so I always get the points from his gas, so it was easy to save him some money. And I had an offer for bonus points on an oil change so I earned 12.00 in points.

uh....at this point I can try anything new @lilo0003 !! I have plenty of all sizes of mason jars so the next time I get some raspberries ( right now they're about $4.00 or more ) I will give it a go! Thanks.

I use mason jars too for fruit! The strawberries I washed and dried were in there for a few days this past week and they were fine (I put a small piece of paper towel at the bottom)

Kitchen is clean! Just had a shower and got dressed for the day. Tossed a load in the washer. Will hang it up to dry once it is done.

Now- filling up my water bottle and heading to CT to spend some $$.

TGIF and Good Morning! Rainy day here today! Which is ok with me since my veggies needed watering and I didn't get out to do it last night.

Bought a new vacuum and steam mop yesterday so excited to use them tomorrow!

Tonight I am taking my mom and sister out for dinner for their birthdays. It has been a very long time since just the 3 of us have been out alone with no partners/kids etc. It will be nice!

Apparently we have a 60% chance of showers today and tomorrow which is good. Hopefully it won’t bring any lightning to the already fire ravaged areas .

I’m with you @Ciel21 I never peel potatoes. Even when I make mashed potatoes I leave the skins on. All that fibre and nutrients is such a waste to throw away.

Sorry you have these dental bills @barbis9. Even though Dh has insurance it’s still big $$$$ and I still have 2 crowns and a new night guard to get done. By the time it’s all said and done ( previous work included) it’s over 3k. It’s ridiculous but then again what isn’t ridiculously expensive nowadays.
@coupon girl I love chia seeds! I put them in my oatmeal every morning as well as hemp hearts which are a great source of omegas that vegans use, plus it’s great protein. Maybe you could just add the chia seeds to your meal instead of drinking it. It gels up quickly so it can be harder to get it down before it gets too much.
@Skippy I wish I new the secret to my store’s markdowns. They must do them since I see all these couponers on instagram posting ridiculous deals. Guess I’m too busy working to get the deals
@SassyAshley, I feel your pain with allergies and forest fires. We’re starting to get a bit of a haze from the fire on the island and I think there’s 2 out in the Fraser Valley. Thankfully it’s not too bad….yet. Last year was BRUTAL.

I contacted Silk regarding some lumpy Nextmilk so they are sending out a coupon. I actually hope it’s more than one as compensation but we will see.

Did a short 7km ride tonight since it was still a bit too hot and we were hungry after work.

I need to know why raspberries have surpassed the speed of bananas on how quickly they turn the minute you get them home!? I make sure to check that they are very firm when I buy them and yet within 2 days the berries on the bottom of those wee shallow 170 gram trays are mushy! We eat lots of berries, all kinds, every day. Sales can be few and far between, often the ones we don't need restocking of are the ones on sale that week....figures. Just a small rant.
We dislike freezing any of the berries, prefer them fresh only.

@walkonby definitely agree! Same with strawberries too. I think they are in distribution centres for too long. Even the ones at Costco last week were going bad. I noticed my oranges going quickly as well.
