Yesterday was 45 min of a very competitive game of pickle ball with Dh (which I won btw
).
Hoping for a ride tonight when Dh gets home. Sadly my padded cycling shorts came in and they are too big! I guess that’s good but still very frustrating. I have body dysmorphia when it comes to what size I need. I tried to follow the size guide but my waist and hips are in different categories so I have no idea what I’m doing
. Apparently cycling shorts are hard to fit but once you get the right fit you’re golden. Oh well, back to the drawing board or rather fitting room.

@HermanH that’s what I’d hoped to do with my Bontrager ones but sadly I’m back to the drawing board. Maybe Pearl? Baleaf? Ughhhhhhh!

I took some nutritional information from the internet....
so what could possibly go wrong? I'm going to try some of this vegetable called Jicama.
It will be peeled, then cut into matchstick sized pieces and I'll only eat a few dipped in hummus. Fingers crossed that I will like it!

I think you’ll like it @walkonby . It’s crunchy and mild in flavour kinda like a potato or water chestnut.
Dh and I rode last night and it was perfect weather. 13.5km done and dusted.

wow! that sucker was a weird thing to " peel " . The peeler did almost nothing but when I used a knife and pinched/grabbed a piece of the skin it pulled down and off in strips.
I found it quite similar to Daikon ( sweet radish ). Just 35 grams of matchstick pieces with my wee cup of hummus....nom, nom, nom.

We did a short 3km ride last night after playing 30 minutes of pickleball . We would have played longer but some other picklers showed up and we wanted to keep to the 30 min limit.
It’s raining lightly here this morning
so probably just going to hit the treadmill today. The rain is so welcomed.

Oh how I loved it! Such a beautiful piece of equipment. Unfortunately we don’t have room currently for it but I can’t wait til we do! So I ended up getting my workout in anyways

We have been riding to the courts , playing pickleball and then riding all over before heading home this last week. That’s the plan for tonight too.

Another Wedding Anniversary dinner celebration done! It was glorious, food wise, but a disaster if you're supposed to be on a 1200 calorie daily limit. ha ha
No guilt allowed, back on track today but I loved this meme so much I had to post it.

I am wondering if it's time to tweak or reconsider the 1200 calorie reducing diet I've been following ( more or less ) since April 9th, 2023.
Yes, I've dropped many pounds that I aimed for BUT I think after this long ( 5 months ) my metabolism has restructured itself and appears
to me that it's holding onto the calories that I consume instead of releasing the fat portions of it.
Anyone else experience this during a weight loss diet that was set at 1200 calories a day?
By the way those 1200 calories are REAL food, fresh veg and fruits, lean meats, no simple carbs but the ones with lots of fibre when I do eat carbs.
Mostly tap water as my beverage and Bubly/AHA waters too, with 1 can a day of No caffeine/Zero sugar Coke and my morning java.
Technically I should be floating away!Last edited by walkonby; Mon, Jul 31st, 2023 at 02:29 PM.

Good Morning! Cooler temps make it nice for outside activity! The heat really did me in last week!

@walkonby I wish I could give you some helpful tips but unfortunately I can’t. I don’t count calories.
I was one of those people that did Dr. Bernstein diet many years ago before I got married and it was the worst thing I did. They say it’s an 800-1500 calorie diet but it’s closer to 1000 ish. I did loose a tone of weight but also messed up my gallbladder and other issues.
When Dh I went to the gym pre pandemic (we’d already been working out/ loosing weight) I was assessed by a trainer and was told that just to maintain normal function of my organs etc I needed to consume 1400-1500 if I sat around and did nothing. Obviously I needed a bit more due to the amount of running and weight training I was doing.
For me personally the only thing that has helped me to not only lose weight but also keep it off and continue to go down is going plant based. The inflammation all but disappeared so I felt I could exercise. I eat super balanced meals (don’t like calling it a diet since it’s a lifestyle change).
Granted in the beginning there was more of the plant based transition foods like beyond burgers and other processed foods to help the transition but we limit those now. We try to stick to a 80-90% whole foods but still some “dirty vegan foods”.
This time around for me my main goals in eating right and exercising were and are #1- cardiovascular health, #2- strength training, #3- flexibility and honestly weight loss was a sweet “side effect”. I have a rough idea of what I weigh but I have a bad history of being fixated on a number that wasn’t realistic so now it’s about how my clothes fit, how much more cardio I can do at a higher intensity, etc.
I eat until I’m full but my meals are high nutrient dense and packed with fibre so you get fuller faster.
Sorry for babbling
. Maybe talking to your Dr. to see how much more they suggest or even a nutritionist might be better.
