@Giseledta , I sort it to make sure there are no questionable pieces (funny how the "bad ones" always end up right in the middle of package) then I wash them with Water and Vinegar, dry them and store with a dry paper towel. The paper towel absorbs any moisture which is what will make it go bad faster or so I have read.

Thanks for the well wishes for my Ashlyn -she was only sick once maybe it was her pills along with tylenol or she had a migrane(runs in my daughter-in-laws family) who knows but she went on to have my homemade soup.

Son cancelled her appt and just took Cara-i am exhausted thous after doing 2 loads of my laundry ,i went on to do 2 loads for daughter-in-law.Play barbies with Cara at her house .Listen to this i got down on a very low kiddie stool to play barbie with cara in her room and i couldnt get up off the stool so i rolled over to the dresser to pull myself up -old age i tell you .

So at 5.45 on the way home got hot foods chicken breasts ,fries for hubby and i at fortinos .Grocery stores were ever so busy didnt shop as hubby was waiting and my knee was killing me.

Twin boy helped me calculate the savings for this year.

    Total $6059.86

    Big saving categories were…
    $1778.60 coupons
    $700 Scene+
    $540 PC Optimum
    $620 Air Miles
    $715 gift card
    $400 in contest wins

I average $5 a month from Swagbucks and $5 a month from the Cashwalk app.

Some of the things I do not count in my savings: buying things on sale, clearance, rain checks, buying things second hand.

Good point, regarding waste. It sounds like you are well along the path of frugal living and are at the point of 'shaving matchsticks' in order to find more savings. Good job!

Another thing you can try is to examine the things you place into the rubbish bin. You don't need to sort through every item. Just be aware of the boxes and packaging as you throw them out to see if there are any items you can stop using or substitute with a cheaper brand or alternative solution. I am stock-piling $7 5-pound lasagna because it means $1.40 for lunch and I can't find anything cheaper for a meal. I recently calculated that a 17 litre pot of stew costs me about $0.70 / 500mL serving. Once the lasagna is gone, I'll switch over to stew.

I do the same, with vegetables such as carrots, that come in plastic bags. I take them out and put them into old paper bags, that were already destined for the garbage/re-cycling. I, too, believe that the paper will help wick moisture, as opposed to the plastic bag, which retains moisture.

I bought a tub of baby spinach on Tuesday and put a dry paper towel in it to keep the moisture off the spinach...so far so good!
