Cleaned out my gutters for the year and collected enough debris to fill 1/2 of an ice cream bucket.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Good Morning Everyone,
Another day of not wanting to get out of bed. I keep waking up at 5 but I am so tired I can barely open my eyes, but I think tomorrow I am just going to have to suck it up and get back to my morning routine.
This morning I dove right into my prep for the week. I have been trying for two days to come up with a plan but there are still some blank spots in my plan so I am working on what I have figured out so far. I think I am overthinking (me, overthink, never lol).
We are cleaning as I go as I do not want a huge pile dishes when I am done, nothing worse in my opinion.
Think I will need to go shopping tomorrow after work, there are a few things Mom has mentioned she needs. I normally try to keep up on her stuff but it is hard when she likes to keep it in her room instead of the bathroom so I cannot see when she is getting low and she doesn't let me know until she out or close to out.
Maybe I will venture out to RCSS tomorrow I see they now also have their own soup cubes and they have a 1/2 cup version which Kitchen Stuff Plus does not have so might check that out. Plus then maybe I can get it all done in one shop vs multiple stores.
Alright, think I am going to go pull some meat from the freezer to precook.
Happy Monday Everyone.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

A new month!! I remain hopeful that food prices will come to their senses!! lol.
So far my plan is the same, whatever is on sale each week ( and I'm talking a REAL sale )
I'll buy and use for a meal during the week OR stock up and freeze, or place in the stockpile.
I just walk past the insulting jacked up prices of many things now.

@walkonby , I was reading an article last week about all of the retaliatory tariffs coming off and what it will mean for grocery prices.
It started off saying that it takes weeks for us to see any changes at the store because they already had stock on hand they paid the tariffs on. But as the article went on, it seemed like they were saying, don't expect much. Yes, the tariffs have come off but now have a whole new list of reasons the prices won't really come back, which to me just said you are paying it now so why should we lower the price now, it has become the new norm.
Guess all we can do is wait and see what happens.
I have been coming in under budget but feel like a bit of a stock up on a few items is coming but more than likely this will happen at Costco. I get what I can on sale but I find my regular shops getting smaller and smaller due to lack of sales. The good news is we are stocked up on meat although I do see Costco has Pork Loins on sale so considering picking one up to turn into Pork Chops. Last time I did this I grabbed one at No Frills instead of Costco and find them to have a gamey taste which I do not like.
Although I also cannot complain as I have found a few good stock up deals on things like Canned Tomatoes and Pasta Sauce.
All we can do is what we can do.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Took a little longer than I had hoped but, I did take a few breaks as I was still trying to figure out my plan, this is what I did/came up with.
I made a Skillet Pancake for Breakfast with Whipped Maple Greek Yogurt.
Lunch I made a Greek Bowl, I used Peppers, Onions, Cauli Rice and regular Rice for the base with Greek Yogurt Marinated Chicken and I will top it with Cucumbers, Tomatoes and a Creamy Greek Feta Dressing.
I also made Garlic, Garlic Sauce for dinners, Chex Nuts for snacks, Rice to make Fried Rice.
Yesterday I made Peanut Butter Brownies for Desserts. Plus we already grated Cheddar, Parmesan and Mozzarella.
Mom started on the Chicken Breasts, we got 10 bags of chunks and the remaining 4 will be turned into "pizza chicken" which is a small dice of chicken we put on Naan Pizzas. I have recently become obsessed with a Chicken Alfredo Pizza we got from Pizza Hut but there were a few tweaks I would make, so I have been perfecting it at home.
Options for dinner this week so far are but are not limited to:
Greek Chicken Meatballs with Lemon Orzo
Mozzarella Chicken
Steak Sandwiches
Enchiladas
I did spend quite a bit of time on Pinterest this weekend and it has made me a bit more excited about food. Going to try to add more new recipes to try. Last night I made a Garlic Parmesan Chicken, Mom said she would have it again but I am not sure if I would make it again. It did come out anything like the pictures so I expecting something different.
The Skillet Pancake is also a new recipe, I had it for breakfast this morning and it is yummy and love how easy it is and will give me breakfast for a full week.
Also, made a creamy feta dressing, I made some subs because I do not like Mayo based Dips/Dressing so I made it with Greek Yogurt, it a bit more tangy than I expected but will see how it pairs with the bowls.
Prep is done, the kitchen is clean and now it is time to relax.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Passed my apple tree on my walk and plucked some more, to gnosh as I wandered.
Found a coconut/choc chip muffin abandoned at a bus stop. It was still sealed and dated yesterday. Tasted just fine. Good way to start the month.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Good Day!! Happy September!! Wow the summer sure did fly by...
Last week my sister told me she was going to Costco and buying my kids their fav things/groceries for us as a thank-you for me dog/house/grandma sitting...the week I signed up for and the extra week I stayed because of the Air Canada strike.... I told her no she did not need to do that but she is pushy and said she would have it delivered to our house if I wasn't going to pick it up.....so since we were passing through on Friday on the way back home we stopped to grab it all. My sister is crazy crazy- She basically did a shop for a family of 10! (Fresh stuff- green beans, potatoes, mushrooms, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, peppers, butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, taco seasoning, bacon bits, onion topping, oatmeal chunks, Fibre 1 bars, bagels, english muffins, naan bread, garlic bread, sausage buns, 2 bags of chips, hellmans, peanut butter, hot dogs, potatoes skins, wings, chicken breasts, and a $32 package of ground beef!!! A few other things I can't remember. Our fridge is stuffed! The only thing I picked up on the way home was 2 flats of eggs at Freshco (we don't have Freshco and that was a great price!) We are eating well the next while (And DS left this morning huge work job 6 hours away! so at least the frozen stuff will be there when he returns) Very thankful but she didn't have to do that.
We celebrated DS's birthday yesterday afternoon. His brother's gf made the cake and it was amazing. (She does this professionally and she does it well!)
It was a beautiful afternoon/evening to sit outside and play yard games/and eat
Today- Work (Catch up not so bad after being away 3 days last week) and Getting this house cleaned up. Added to the list is cleaning out bedroom #2 of oldest DS (we still have stuff to move out of his other bedroom and to paint it) Since he has moved out to his own place. Will grab a few empty rubbermaid bins to add stuff to it for him to confirm if he wants or if I can donate/sell/toss. My plan is to have the room completely cleaned out and ready if needed for guest/company. I will put my drying rack for laundry in there....
Last Tuesday I pushed the button to start brewing my coffee and the coffee maker just died.....no power. It was only 4 months old and a good one but of course DS didn't keep the receipt. He took it apart and fixed it quickly. Works just like new! That kid amazes me!
Have a wonderful day!Last edited by Frugalbigmama; Tue, Sep 2nd, 2025 at 09:36 AM.

Popped out after work to SDM- All summer toys etc marked down to .50/$1/$2.
I grabbed 5 mystery balls ($2 each) for my niece's Christmas box. One is a mini make up making kit and 4 are lego type kits building snack food each containing 137 to 200 pieces. She like activities like this.
