Good Morning Everyone,
Nothing like messing with yourself.
Yesterday Mom asked me to help her with something today and I thought "no problem, tomorrow is Saturday," Um no today is Friday. Then this morning I woke up just before my alarm and thought "WOW, I am tired, good news it is Saturday, I can sleep in," Nope within minute my alarm went off reminding me it was Friday.
Maybe it was my body knowing today was going to be a day of inventory mysteries, which don't get me wrong I love a good mystery but these are the ones that make your head hurt. But we are pushing through.
I did need to take a break after the last mystery, I just had to walk away so I gave the bathroom a quick wipe down so that is done.
Next I need to see if the front mat is dry, it desperately needs a cleaning but it is constantly wet right now so I cannot vacuum it. I have no plans to leave the house today so that should give me my chance to clean it.
Alright time to get back at it.

@SassyAshley I have seen the blurb on a few posts but sometimes they disappear. I think SC is old technology and no one is keeping it updated. I fully expect to find it just gone one day.

@cath007 I hope you both are o.k. Any car accident can be a traumatic experience and also an expensive one to come out of.
This is the last thing you needed, but very glad only the car took the worst of it.

Well today I wandered around Male in the Maldives getting thoroughly lost. I went into a bakery for directions-I must have looked pretty bad as they gave me a water, free lunch and offered to call me a taxi-all on their dime. I think they were horrified a women of my age was traveling alone!
Anyway eventually I made it back to the ship with plenty of time to spare-my sister will be meeting me in Sri Lanka on Monday so that ought to be fun.
She asked me to buy her some distilled water-I was shocked to find the ship was charging 22 USD per litre so I didn't bother. I don't think they will be selling out at that crazy price. I am sure she can find some shoreside. Has the world gone completely mad?
This was my kind of stop-mentos for 25 cents a pack and Coke 0 for a buck a piece. I am well stocked up now!!Last edited by lizzie bargain; Sat, Feb 14th, 2026 at 07:10 AM.

Good Morning everyone,
A bit of a slow morning this morning, I was up early but took me awhile to get out of bed.
Hoping for a weekend with no expectations and to just rest and relax. The past few weeks have been a bit insane at work and dealing with the car, I have been feeling it. Not to say I won't get things done, but wanted to go in without a to-do list and expectations because then I feel pressure to get it done.
I was a little bit worried as it seems like everytime I try to plan for a no expectations weekend, something happens on Friday to send me spinning and then I spend my whole weekend spinning. Hoping I did not jinx myself now but so far we made it through Friday.
Kept last night's dinner simple with a perogies bake, by the time I finished work last night I was done. It was a busy day of searching inventory mysteries, then I had to do some prep for next week and got stuck on an excel formula that would not work but got it all done and everything is prepped for next week.
Thinking tonight I might do Chicken Parm with Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi, I see my Ricotta needs to be used up.
If we like the recipe for the Ricotta Gnocchi, I will make more and freeze it. I really want to work on stocking up the freezer with Homemade options we can pull on those days that don't go as planned.

My father contacted his insurances this morning. If he his on fault the insurances will not pay his damages because he his just insurances for the other side.We will have to wait à few days to know. With my dad health various conditions it wont surprise me. Hé will have to pass some others driving tests. I am Still very feared. This was my first car incident and I hope the Last one.

Happy Saturday!
Yesterday- Was done work at 3pm so went to the town to pay 1st quarter property taxes. I actually owed less then I thought because I paid online in January and it wasn't reflected on the bill. Also put $75 cash on our Water & Sewer bill. This is what I budget monthly and our quarterly bill usually always has a credit.
Went to the bank to deposit cash and then popped in No Frills to grab a few things.
Today- Popped out at 9am. Went to Food Basics- Grabbed 5 packages of the English muffins (.99C) chips (.99C) A 450g bag of Wonderful Pistachios for $9.98 but they rang in at $10.99. I went and took a picture of the item and the cashier put it in at $9.98. I had to ask if I got them for $0 (I could tell I didn't because the total) and he told me they don't do that here. I politely showed him the sign posted at the cash register behind him. So he call someone to come fix it
.
The best part was I was debating if I should put them back and get a small bag (they are for DS's birthday bag) Just hope he puts them in a sealed bag or container once he opens them. So free was awesome!
SDM- Had some scratch/lottery tickets in my car visor (I grab them the odd time I get gas) They were winners totaling $19! So gave her a loonie for $20 and tucked it in my coat pocket
Also found Lysol All purpose cleaner for $2 and Magic Eraser 3Pk for $1! For that price I will use them! Cheaper then $store sponges.
I went shopping without a plan.... but have some great ideas for meals with mostly stuff at home. I grabbed naan bread because we have pizza mozzerela in the fridge, an open jar of pasta sauce- fresh mushrooms/onions and bacon bits (Costco) so we can make pizzas one night. (I also found the same Naan bread in the freezer so I will have to keep that in mind for next time!)
We have tomatoes to use up so I will make some sort of pasta- Really liked the chicken pasta I made last week and since I have a large package of fresh mushrooms I may make that again but tweak it and use some of the tomatoes . I don't have cream but I do have coconut milk and evaporated milk so maybe I can use one of those in it? I will have to google which is best.
Having the cupboards cleaned out and organized has really helped my shopping. I am trying to just buy what we need and stock up on sale things within reason. In reality there is always a sale on something so just need to shop the sales and go without till the sale if we don't have extra.
Like fish- I tried a boxed fish for an easy meal- I paid $4.97. It was good for that price . Today on sale for $6.97 at GT...I was going to get it but we don't need it and the Butter milk chicken at $6.97 (Save $8) is a better deal for us so I bought one of those (and hid it in the upright freezer for a lazy night or for DS when he is left home alone for days lol) I love the sweet gherkin pickles when packing for road trips/kayaking etc. They have gone up like everything but GT has them for $2 so since the expiry date was 2027 I bought 2. ( I have a new jar in the fridge) (and they are in a glass jar still unlike some places I have found them)
Anyway a good little shopping morning. Now to tidy the kitchen and relax for a bit. Treating myself to latte at Tim Hortons sometime this weekend since they are $2 on the app!
Have a great Saturday!Last edited by Frugalbigmama; Sat, Feb 14th, 2026 at 11:13 AM.

@cath007 yes any accident can be traumatic . Hope the insurance situation works in your Dad favour and he doesn’t have to pay anything out of pocket.
