I had my bowl of soup at 5 and then on my way home stopped by sobeys for a few things and spotted frozen pork dumplings on sale for 1.88 and picked one up to try. The first few were good, but they are pretty greasy and get to you after awhile. Serving size is half the package which was about 8, but I think next time I'll make 4 and have them with rice and veggies. Probably wouldn't buy them again but they were a quick something to try when I got home and was starving at 8:30.
Went to a Thai restaurant and had a bowl of Thai Won Ton soup (lots of vegies); was super good! Also had shrimp brochettes (6 jumbo shrimps) on fried rice and load of various vegies stir fry. Very Very good!
^ Yum.... is Thai food generally on the spicy side?
I had a HUGE craving for wonton soup yesterday, but unfortunately my dream did not come true...
Last night for supper, I had scrambled eggs and toast. Husband had chicken and potato salad.
I pinned this recipe some time ago, but haven't gotten around to trying it. Thanks for the link. I think I will have to try it soon, but I might use maple syrup instead of honey, just cause I like maple syrup better. Love the idea of using the zest in the rice. Never thought of that.
Yesterday we had sausage and peppers penne, with a green salad.
Not sure about tonight yet. Depends if I make it to the grocery store or not.
for the weekend, i made braised chicken thighs with homemade gravy
and turkey meatballs with tomato sauce.
Roast beef, potatoes and carrots
DH is out tonight, so I looked at salmon for DS while shopping today (DS does not eat fish) but it was kind of expensive. So I cooked frozen haddock for us, as well as 'crash' potatoes from Pioneer Woman, added bacon bits, DS had veggies on the side.
Today is 'feast' day of feast or famine in our fridge. On weekends is when I normally shop. So right now i have lots of ribs (.99 a pound at Superstore), boneless skinless chicken breasts (which I rarely buy but were $2.99 at Sobeys) and steak which was regular price at Costco but 10x better than what we get in the grocery store. This will be supper the next couple days.
Yay, I finally will get my wonton soup! Chinese food tonight, ordered and waiting for husband to pick it up on his way home from church; can't wait! :)
Made grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts with homemade fries (made hubby peel and cut potatoes hahaha) and left over peas from the other night. Plus a cucumber salad.
Oh, the Chinese food was so good! We'll have what's left tomorrow, because our son is coming for supper tonight.
I'm making fried wontons (oh, just realized how ironic that is, since I had already satisfied my urge...) because my son and husband absolutely love them - well, so do I. To ground pork I add mushrooms, onion, grated carrot, cabbage - not much each of the veg, though).
Not sure of what sides I'll make with them, though. Usually I'd do a stirfry with noodles - I do have tons of fresh veggies to use, so might just do that.
I think tonight will be a fancier splurge. Rather than pay for takeout I will roast a prime rib and serve it with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, gravy and veggies. DD loves that.
I'm planning on making my nacho meat stuff served with Old Dutch taco chips, salsa, sour cream, and milk.
