We went to my DD. Unbelievable what she prepared. Turkey, a prime rib of beef for those who don't care for turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, green beans, cheesy brussel sprouts, carrots, fresh beets and gravy from both the turkey and roast beef. Dessert was homemade apple and pumpkin pie. We came home with enough leftovers to last us until Thursday. LoL.
leftover turkey -French fries ,gravy ,and turnip
-made the cranberries in to muffins to use up the cranberry sauce-yummm
Ooo I had roast dinner nommm
Yum! That's the part I miss most about having turkey - hot turkey sandwiches with fries and gravy!
I bought cranberries, which I'll cook down and use in making some squares and muffins, too!
Tonight for supper, leftover ham and cabbage rolls - and I just put potato wedges in the oven. I'll also heat up the ham sausage which I forgot to serve yesterday, and I'll make a salad.
Son had popped over this aft - yesterday, I had loaded him up with leftovers, plus other food since he didn't want to come by for supper today - and he said that before he went to bed last night he ate one of the full containers of ham, cabbage rolls, and brussels sprouts so it was like having two suppers, lol!
Hotdogs and cheesecake.
Striploin steak, baked potatoes and grilled veggies on the BBQ, perfect weather today to BBQ.
Making spaghetti and meatballs for tonight. :)
A late entry here from our Thanksgiving meal on Sunday.
We actually did make the 2 birds that day! The Spatchcock method really does work! The meat stayed so moist and all the skin on the birds body was crispy! the cooking time for that 14 lb bird was approx 95 minutes! What a savings if you are short on time.
The other bird was roasted the traditional stuffed way. Oh I love the sides! I really tried to hold back this year, served green beans from the garden, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, mashed spuds oh and I tried using the new ricer I got from the Thrift store! ( DH had to be the muscle for that ) but I can see the difference in the way they come out, soooo smooth! Roasted up the smallest spuds from the bag ( about 12 ) as some of us like them better. And.....despite my inner voice objecting I placed a small bowl of " poison " GMO peaches and cream niblets out for DD ( because corn is her favourite!! ) ha ha
Placed out a bowl of my pickled beets just to watch 2 of my 3 kids noses turn up!! ( so worth it for a giggle )
Made the cranberry sauce up ahead, it firmed up nicely in the fridge, gravy was more flavourful than usual because of the Spatchcock method and directions.
The pumpkin pie was purchased this year. It was a doozy for just $7.00 ( 12" and 1.3 kg!! ) That is more filling and less crust which they all loved!
None of us went to the advanced voting that day which we had planned to do after dinner.....there was always tomorrow!!
Hope all of you enjoyed celebrating your own Thanksgiving Day as well.
My meals should be nominated for Fear Factor!!! #get'erdone
Last night we had steak, potatoes, garlic bread (on bbq) green beans and mushrooms and onions. It was so good. Tonight I have a meeting so will have to be quick (ham, eggs and toast I'm thinking) unless I can take both kids out for dinner- It has been a long time since just the 3 of us went out and it could work tonight since they don't have work/hockey.
Thanksgiving weekend was full of food!
Sunday we had our turkey dinner - butterball turkey (it was so juice and tender!), sour cream whipped potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sour cabbage rolls, garlic pickled red peppers, cucumber and onion salad. For dessert ice cream cake, pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie
Yesterday was left overs, turkey sandwiches with salad
Tonight I am making homemade chicken noodle soup, hubby has a cold.
Homemade turkey barley soup. It was very tasty indeed.
