Turkey and all the sides!
Since I have no Hostess duties around Thanksgiving Dinner this year, ( opted out since I was undergoing a tricky back procedure ) . We've since decided to hit Swiss Chalet for their Festive Special! Not turkey, but there is cranberry and stuffing so we'll just pretend. I think this will work out even better because there
are no dishes, pots and pans for me to to wash up afterwards. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Take out Chinese.
We had thanksgiving dinner at my parents' on saturday where my younger sister cooked: roast chicken, pork tenderloin, pork ribs, gravy, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts with bacon, asparagus, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and onion, stuffing, and my brother brought coconut cream pie.
today, we had pizza subs with cheap ingredients i got at superstore: fresh mozza ball $1.94 - 30% off, french bread $1.25 (regular price), Grimm pizza meat pack $3.44, and we already have pizza sauce at home.
The 7 of us had the most wonderful time at Swiss Chalet and man was it busy! Despite that and being oh so noisy, our server was very attentive, polite and efficient that you'd never know he was only 3 weeks on the job there! I stayed true to my diet ( sknl white 1/4 chx breast ( 220 calories) garlic green beans ( 230 calories ), an extra side of mixed veg. ( 50 calories ) and a garden salad ( 20 calories ) with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar ( 60 calories ) . ta da!! 580 calories and I split that into 2 meals by taking half home for my dinner.
No dessert, no appys, no bun, spuds or stuffing. Since we were all chatty and laughing about various things I never missed any of the foods I would normally get at Swiss Chalet.
Note to my family: keep me away from there until next year! ha ha
@walkonby , I actually heard so many people saying they weren't cooking this year and going too or ordering from Swiss Chalet instead.
Last night we made a Roast Chicken Dinner, it was only the two of us. I wasn't sure it was going to happen, Mom was not having the best day but she wanted to make it and we got it made, we had:
Whole Roasted Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Potato Stuffing and Roasted Butternut Squash.
Earlier today I was a busy beaver! NF had meat items at 30% off. 4 thick pork chops and a bag of chicken wings. GT had their Shake and Bake on sale ( the one for pork is awesome ) so I did all the meats up. S & B the chops and Air Fried the wings after shaking many dry herbs and spices on them. These meats are for the guys work meals ( or for munching late at night ) . I made a sensible salmon steak for my dinner.
Tonight I made Broccoli Cheddar Soup with Cheesy Garlic Naan on the side because I never got around to making Home Bread this week.
I bought a small tray of ground turkey and medium beef this morning along with a few nice red bell peppers. Want to make my version of stuffed peppers
but with no rice. I'll use that Konjac rice product to mix with the ground meat. When you add enough fresh aromatic herbs ( dill and cilantro ) to it and tomato
sauce, generous amount of black pepper it is very tasty! If I feel adventurous there may be some slices of Swiss cheese over each pepper.

No one will go hungry this weekend. lol
I separate my food from the guys foods in dishes and label them. Their dishes are all on the right, a small Mexican Taco meatloaf, whole stand up filled stuffed peppers, air fryer roasted turkey breast meat and oven roasted heirloom carrots and sweet potatoes.
On the left I of course have stuffed peppers but in half portions, ( mine have the konjac rice, theirs was real rice ). Took what I wanted of the turkey meat and those roasted veggies are for whoever gets to them first! lol

I had planned to make Homemade Pizza for Dinner last night but I ended up on-site dealing with printers and did not get the dough made so now tonight is homemade pizza with Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mushroom, Onion, Pepperoni, Bacon and Parmesan.
On the side I will make a Salad, probably Caesar with Pita Chips for some crunch.
Hubs is whipping up a homemade pizza. He also cleaned the whole house-yeah!
