BBQ steak, baked potatoe, carrots & salad
I made BLT's and the last of the garden potatoes. Here's the sandwich:
Tonight will be pork stew of some sort...
hell if I know!
I have to work late and will be arriving home around the time supper is being served...so it's up to DH today. :top:
Sunday night was spare ribs done in the slow cooker with a few potatoes and then finished in the oven. We bought the ribs that were on sale at Loblaws (an impulse buy but still a good deal at $3/lb), and there were leftovers as the packages were a bit ginormous.
Last night was spinach omelettes and roasted beets, so a super fiber-rich and nutritous meal to balance out Sunday's debauchery.
Tonight will be some of the leftover rib meat chopped up and mixed with the sauce, mixed with some veggies and cheese and toasted inside quesadillas. I plan to do some mashed cauliflower on the side as well as an ear of corn each.
Tomorrow night will feature squash, but that's as far as I've gotten toward deciding what, exactly, I'll be serving. I am thinking maybe a squash curry with some peas and a piece of naan on the side, but that's just a maybe.
Yum! I decided to make pork stew last week to use up some stuff out of the freezer. I used a couple tablespoons of dijon mustard as my secret ingredient (thank you, Michael Smith!) as well as some nutritional yeast for extra flavour and it turned out awesome :) I must say, though that with the dijon and nutritonal yeast DH was a bit skeptical as those two choices made it quite yellow!
Last night was vegan Mac and Cheeze MMm good!
Tonight chick pea felafels with a creamy tahini garlic sauce and Dijon mustard roasted taters with either a green salad or a green bean salad not sure yet.
glowworm, that's a great idea, since pork and mustard go well together.
Our cupboards and fridge are kinda bare (til shopping tonight and tomorrow had to wait til payday!), so I used onions, celery, carrots, cauliflower (cut tiny so it'll disappear but taste 'cabbagey'); some Italian dressing over the veggies; cubed pork on top, mixed with can of diced tomatoes in olive oil and garlic (never used them before!), added some garlic and stirred in about a quarter packet of french onion soup mix which was leftover.
I'll have to check in a bit if it needs more liquid - I'm never sure!
Yesterday we had fries with honey-garlic tenders and plain chicken wings from 7-11. Yummy, but no veggie value, so tonight will make up for that. We always eat stew with pickles, too (drat, wish we had beets left, my fave with stew, but it's going to have to be dill pickles).
i'm dethawing porkchops to bbq but i really could go for some homemade pizza. hmm... what to do what to do...
ninna did you come home to this?

pizza pizza won out last night. cheese pizza for the kids.. ham, mushrooms, black olives and bacon for dh and i. we haven't ordered pizza in a donkeys age so it was a nice change.
bbq'ing some porkchops in the rain/drizzle tonight with some broccoli and sidekicks noodles. i might do a tinfoil pkg of onions/mushroosm/peppers and garlic just to use up some stuff in the fridge before we go away.
Toasted egg salad sanwiches with cauliflower mushroom dill soup. :)
Potato leek soup and whole wheat artisan bead with almond butter
I put that Gf bread mix into the bread maker around 12:30 a.m. and when i was getting ready for work this a.m. it was smelling so good in the kitchen! Took all the stuff in to make toasted tomato sammies for my lunch with Vegenaise! I even had another one for dinner around 5:30 !
I made dry garlic ribs, plain fried rice and green beans. These beans are from the store because there wasn't enough of mine for a meal...I can't believe I picked beans from my garden in October.
Since I work nights, in the morning I often have my dinner when I get home from work. This morning will be janes chicken strips, mixed veg and mashed potatoes. Yes at 7.30am I will take some actual potatoes, boil them and mash them, lol. I usually try to stay up till at least 10.30am after that.. ;)

Campbell's Creamy Cheesy Chicken Casserole! I was feeling lazy so this was perfect served along side a salad.
10 minute prep time, 45 minutes in the mini oven. It was really yummy and cost less than $7 with left overs.
I used the Maple Leaf Prime chicken breasts that were on sale at Food Basics this week. I had the $2 off coupon, so $3 for chicken!
Loocie is heading out for lunch & since I get to choose,
I'm opting for a decent pizza to chase away my blues,
I'm too tired for my own liking so it's best that I get out,
Sometimes a change in scenery is what it is all about,
I've told you all before about my pizza proclivities,
& I like to attend pizzeria festivites,
So since the lunch hour is now in our midst,
It is time to do the pizza twist,
I'll be back in a while with a review,
So here's best wishes from me to you!

p.s. A previous pizza poem to prove that when the craving hits, I must go for it!
Lunch is being served in the Smart Canuck Cafe,
Did you know that you can have pizza at any time of day?
Some people like it gooey & some people like it cheesy,
You can customize your pizza, it is really that easy,
Some people like pizza on the meaty side,
& some like tomatoes that are sun dried,
Some like peppers & some people like ham,
& I guess there are even some who like it with spam,
Some people like onions & a crispy crust,
& throw on extra garlic if you feel you must,
Pineapple, mushrooms, anchovies, salami,
It's your very own pizza, so add some pastrami,
I never thought pizza could be comfort food,
But I must say that I'm in a pizza kind of mood!
rice and black bean burritos homemade of course.
hmm thinking of picking up some ground something or other NOT beef. and making some lasagna roll ups. then make some ceasar salad with it.
Nothing fancy tonight just a big plate of beets, mashed potatoes and fried onions
Mmmm, beets...some people would run away from your supper (snicker) but it wouldn't be me.
janetta,
I don't really follow a recipe for the ribs...it's very simple: season pork back ribs with s&p, dried thyme, a bit of seasoning salt. Dust with flour and shallow fry in about an inch of oil (I use a cast iron pan) until golden brown. Do them in batches so they brown properly and keep the ready ones in the oven on warm. When they are all done, drain the fat, and put them back into a large skillet on medium. Add some fresh crushed garlic (I used to add the garlic to the pan first, but the garlic sometimes got burned). Shake the pan around a bit to redistribute the garlic and give the whole thing a splash of soy sauce. That's pretty much it. If you cut them into single rib pieces, they will cook more quickly.
for lunch i did left-over 1/2 a turkey cheese sand and 1/2 chicken wrap and left-over instant mash
Pasta and veggie sauce with cucumbers and red peppers
sheppards pie.. but i used mushroom soup and a tbsp of ketchup..for the base. it was really quite good. broccoli and buns on the side.
