We're having hotdogs. Not sure what else. Maybe Kraft Dinner :)
Wow, it's hard to cook when I'm sick, and know I won't be eating...
Roast chicken dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, marinated veggie salad, and whatever hot veggie I can round up.
tonight was honey garlic chicken, made my own sauce..it was goood.....and just plain white rice & sauteed spinach...............
Got home late tonight. Luckily DH had some steaks and baked potatoes all cooked for us. :)
DH went out to grab Caesar's pizza and a black forest cake for DS who got cheated out of his b'day cake at dinner on Sunday.....
( I shudder at the price he'll pay for the black forest cake at Metro, but they are delicious! )
Dh ate the leftover salad while I was cooking supper. I can't eat salad while pregnant...it just doesn't stay down. I have sweet and sour sauce with pineapple simmering in a pot. Meatballs are fresh out of the oven and a pot of rice. I'm keeping the items separate to make sure that I can "keep it down." Extra meatballs will be frozen for another meal.
meatless Monday:
2 boiled eggs with a slice of toast and side dill pickle
instant ramen noodle with broccoli
It's really stormy here today..have a bunch of veggies (turnip, carrot, onions, potato, etc) leftover from the cabin on the weekend so will start a stew on the electric stove and then simmer on the wood stove all day, so doesn't matter if we lose the power later..will prob make dumplings later and let them cook on top of the stew. I can't decide it I want to use pork or beef..maybe pork for something different!
Hope you are feeling better today Natalka!
I am being very adventurous and making butter chicken from scratch. I have the chicken in a spice/lemon marinade right now and it already smells really good. Fingers crossed I dont mess this up!!!!
chicken and rice.
Oh my, that is just the sweetest thing!
Thanks so much - I do feel somewhat better, but influenza is a very awful thing.
Have breakfast sausages cooking in the oven - which I normally love, but the smell is just so gross for me now that I'm sick... Husband will have those with leftover mashed potatoes, and there's one piece of chicken left from yesterday. He wouldn't eat veggies yesterday (sorry, no room left on my plate, he said!), so I'll make some peas, and maybe that will work.
Dunno what I'll be able to eat... it's hit and miss.
Normally when I'm sick I buy three things... powerade, OJ and mr noodles. My #1 symptom is a sore throat so the salty ramen noodles help.
Tonight we had pork roast, mashed potatoes and mixed veg.
I had some homemade turkey soup for supper tonight.
I had planned on roasting a chicken for supper tonight, but Sobeys was all out when I went shopping there for 10% off day.
So tonight's supper became a clean out the fridge night. On the menu was egg noodles, alfredo sauce, dry ribs, Hawaiian pizza, celery sticks, fresh made potato and egg salad with a glass of milk.
LO had toast, rice, a dry rib, and a hot dog with milk.
Tomorrow night we are going out to celebrate our friend's 28th Birthday. Work really messed up his plans to go to Cuba, so we are all gathering a Eddie's for the evening. I'll likely get wings since it is Wednesday.
Thursday is my 30th Birthday. We booked our regular babysitter for the evening, but I work early in the morning so it certainly won't be a late night for us. Dh made reservations at Granby's, an expensive but sometimes disappointing, restaurant in town. It won't be frugal and will likely cost around $100 for the two of us, but we only go about once a year. I'm looking forward to having stuffed mushrooms, even with this all day sickness. I've got a soft spot for mushrooms.
I think I will have fish sticks and french fries ready for LO and the babysitter before we leave for the evening.
I had a poached egg on toast and a sausage! Yay, nutrition! :)
Pan-fried chili & toast
sausage, corn and pepper succotash with rice.
The school chef made ribs, smashed potatoes, stir fired red cabbage and broccoli-so my DH brought that home for dinner. Thanks goodness as I was out all day attending to other things and had not even really had time to think up a dinner plan.
chopped/grated, prepped and cooked all the fillings ( chili, romaine, cucumber, carrot, salsa, old cheddar cheese ) for soft taco wraps for when the guys get in from work. They knew that was what I was going to have ready for them, but now the problem is I just finished cooking another whole other scrumptious meal, ( in prep for their Thursday's work meal ) and they are gonna smell THAT coming in the door. hey! hands off that meal guys, eat your tacos.....lol.
Spaghetti, meat sauce and garlic bread for tonight.
turkey soup
SaveaDollarDiva, what's for dinner?
For my husband, I have a casserole cooking with onions, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes, cubes of pork loin, with 3/4 of a jar of salsa mixed in. Great way to make him eat veggies.
For me, baked potato with some raw veggies or salad - depends what I end up making.
I feel better, but not 'all' better - and food is def not high on my list.
Assorted leftovers smorg from the fridge
Had some chicken breasts and honey garlic sidekick
ahhhhh....my first catering job was canceled due to weather ....but at least I know now I can do it (trial run) ..lol....I'll have no problem finding people to eat the food!! So, today is also my grandmother's 97 birthday , the family is having a dinner "party" ham & salads, etc...I would've taken the food there but they already have it covered!! So food galore this weekend! :)
Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and carrots
