*IMPORTANT* Private Messages Limit to be Reduced to 100

I don't see the point of keeping messages in your sent folder, you can uncheck this, when you email someone it always quotes the last reply in the textbox doesn't it?

It only quotes if you use the REPLY button, which many do not. If you use the Quick Reply, it doesn't quote.

What about getting rid of some of the redundant threads in the Expired/Repost section of the board? Nearly 36,000 (now useless) threads with a total of 270,000 + posts has got to put a strain on the server.

That section always has a lot of viewers so I think that would be a really bad idea. A lot of people go in there for reference and other things as well.

Honestly Boo 200 is high enough, theres no way someone would have 5000 trades going on all at once lol!

I would prefer 500 .. I do alot of trading and 100 to 200 just doesn't' seem enough. I would prefer to see all the expired posts deleted or moved to another server before we loose our PM's

What about pruning the redundent old posts in the big bulky threads. Many threads only require the most recents posts, like say a week or even a months worth. Can't the posts be reduced down to only what is currently required to be fully useful at this time.

I know it is done on other boards. I am on one that only has the last day or two in all of the radio loyalty threads. They prune daily. Even if you leave a week or a months worth it, would reduce them immensely. That's gotta reduce your server load by quite a bit.

Also, could the threads be limited to a number of pages. Say 10, or even 20 for example. Once a thread reaches the limit of pages, the older posts would face automatic deletion as newer posts are added. The first post would have to be locked to preserve the contest, coupon or deal info. Like a sticky at the start of each thread.

Just me thinking out loud. I think these ideas are worth thinking about.

It seems the people most in need of the large inboxes are those that run multiple trades / trains. Is there a way to change allowances based on that? A way to set up a rank system based on trade rating? That is, somebody like Seajay with a high trading has a bigger inbox than me. A default of 100 messages and then every +5 trade rating gives you another 100 messages or something?

I dunno if it would work, but it seems like it might help alleviate the stress on the server without putting the really busy people in a bad position.

I really need an address book on here. I have one 'file' that I keep the addresses in when people PM me. I guess they can just resend their addy each time, but it makes RAOK well...kind of less "random" or a surprise.

I have several trains out at once and file each train under a different sub heading (file folder) in my Inbox... with the limit being dropped to 200... that is 'total' not per file (I don't need 200 per file). But I can see 200 filling quickly if there are several trains, trades and PM's coming in per day.

Suggestions!! I don't want to loose PM's because the box fills quickly! What do I do? ESP: when we have holidays coming up and it's bound to have lots in that time period.

The easiest way is to just have your PM"s sent to your regular email box and then save them in folders just like you do on SC. Then you can delete the ones on SC as you'll have no need for them.
