lightsandsirens - I have never tried that, it's not something people do around here. But we currently have apple pie, and I'm going to try it with the cheese!

my Dad is sure a pie eater
the other day he ate half a strawberry-rhubarb pie with vanilla ice-cream
it was not a big pie like mom use to do though
for a kid , no one would allow him to eat half a pie for dinner but for a 84 yo man with several health issues and who depends on other people for everything....why not? had he died during the night , he would have eaten one of his fav dessert that evening .....
prisonners have this right , why our elderly would have ?Thank's to DH who told me the grumpy Garfield was not at all representative of who i am

oh, finally i'm home.
i used to be a secret pie-eater, but i've come out of the baker's closet and i'm proud to say i'd eat pie everyday, if it was not for that dang chocolate friggin' cake!
can't do the crust...i've tried lard, butter, shortening...i just can't seem to perfect it (doesn't stop me from eating them).
my ex guy, well indeed he's still a guy, just not mine, made a pork tortierre for christmas eve supper. it was the most disgusting thing i ever ate(oh, wait a second...), but like a loving, supportive gal pal, i ate it; actually i had seconds - with tons of h.p. sauce!
i digress. i love pies!

Hi all! Pie lover here! Sweet or savoury, thinking of pie makes me hungry . Back in my country there is coconut pie, which I love, and I have not found it anywhere here . Pie oh pie, where art thou?

Blue(berry) Christmas pie:
I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you...
And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas.

Putt....I used to be like that...nothing worked! Everyone's "fool-proof" recipe fooled me! But then I tried Martha Stewart's Pat Brisse (it's pie crust, lady!) in a food-processor and it turned out perfect!! It's on her web-site...you toss everything into the processor, let it do the work, wrap in two pieces in plastic wrap, place in fridge for...I forget how long...roll it out and voila! Perfect crust! I used butter straight out of the freezer, too, since everything had to be very cold....I hope you try it!
