Hello fellow SC-ers; it's been awhile since I've posted regularly, I know, and I don't feel like I can even ask this but I don't know what else to do to quell the panic that's building in me. If my mother were alive, I'd ask her to say a prayer for me but she's not.
I'm going for a mammogram and an ultrasound in a few hours because of an abnormality they found a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I am scared about what they might find.
Hopiing you will send me positive thoughts/vibes, good karma, and for the religiously inclined, a prayer or two. I hope the scans come up clean but if they don't then I'm hoping it's something benign like a cyst that can be drained and dealt with.
I haven't been able to talk to anyone about this because my father-in-law was recently diagnosed with cancer in a number of different areas. he starts chemo today but the prognosis doesn't look good so I don't feel like I have anyone else I can tell...and my imagination is beginning to run wild. This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by ninna; Tue, Jul 15th, 2014 at 02:08 PM.

Good luck but know that breast cancer is not the death sentence it was many many years ago.
My mom had it when she was 72 and lived until 89 with never any recurrence after her initial treatment. My neighbor had it at 40 and she is now 60 with no recurrence also. My 2 GF's had it in their 30's and are fine. They are now in their 50's.
It could be a cyst, I have had those and they do go away.
It could be a precaution also. I had an abnormality on a PAP test once and the second test ended up showing nothing.
Best to know right away what you are dealing with though.
I wish you good luck and good doctors

I think Patty put it beautifully: breast cancer can be so successfully dealt with now, please keep your thoughts as positive as you can. I'm sure you're scared, I was when I had an 'anomaly' but an ultrasound showed nothing at all!
Can you talk to your hubby about it? It really helps to talk to family and friends...I'll send up a prayer for you, Ninna.

Wishing you nothing but good luck & stay positive, a positive outlook makes such a difference. Good to have it investigated quickly. 17 years ago my mom was diagnosed & successfully treated for BC. She is such a positive person and I know this played a huge part in her recovery and treatment.

Well guys, I really appreciate the good thoughts! Thank you SO much! You don't know how much strength I got just from feeling the SC love today!!!
I won't know the results for a week because the technicians can't tell you anything. It has to go to the radiologist first and then to the family doctor. So it's "hurry up and wait" some more. I know I'm stupid to panic at this point in time because panic doesn't resolve anything and I don't even have a reason to panic because it's only a worry I'm getting checked out and nothing has been confirmed. Guess I'm just too alone in my own head and fearing the worst.
My husband knows about the issue and he was the one who took me to the appointment today so I do have support there--but he is so busy trying to support his mom and dad through his dad's very terminal cancer that I feel bad unloading my feelings on him when he's already got so much to deal with as it is.
So thanks for your kind thoughts and your prayer and just for listening. I will keep you posted on how things turn out."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

Hi ninna!
My DH goes to the cancer clinic in London, so I know you are in very good hands. My bff is also going through what you are. They DID find what they thought was cancerous growth in her case, but she then had a biopsy and will get the results tomorrow. She would agree that the waiting is hard, but she is keeping busy and says that it helps to take her mind busy. I will attest to the power of positive thoughts and I definitely will have you in my prayers. Hugs!
