I'm full-time!!! A Life Brag :)

I worked for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation part-time for 1 1/2 years back in 2000-2001, while I was working full-time elsewhere. I was in a dead-end job and was looking for something with better pay and more opportunities. I left the NSLC when I found a better full-time job in 2001 (I was single and had no social time), but through the years my employment changed to where I only needed to work part-time again (with the help of couponing). This was due to having children, and wishing to not send them to daycare. My husband works full-time backshift, so I went to work part-time in the evenings and weekends. It has been a bit of a struggle, as we juggle schedules and not getting as much time as we would have liked all together. I came back to the NSLC in 2008 as a casual, and the schedule fit with our needs. I was able to advance to a regular part-time position, meaning I was guaranteed a certain number of hours and better pay. I was making the same amount of money a lot of people working full-time at minimum wage were making. But again, it was a struggle, as my hours were every Friday-Monday. My children have both since started school, my youngest going into grade 2 this year. Through a lot of discussion, we decided that I would apply for full-time. I have been able to work pretty much 40 hours a week for awhile, though it has been many nights and weekends. Full-time meant paid benefits, more vacation time, better hours for family time, Sundays guaranteed off, special leave days and a pension plan. Well, I got my job!! A lot of people end up having to leave their store and having to go to another to get full-time, but I was able to stay in mine!! I feel so blessed. I have had a dream of full-time at the NSLC for over 10 years, and finally achieved it!
