We just found out that my husband is a descendent of King Cerdic I of Germany and Wessex, England. We can now count my husband's ancestors back to the year 476. I guess King Cerdic is the founder of the British Monarchy, and the European monarchy. Some say he is what the legends of King Arthur is based on! So, in a way, I married into the British Monarchy! Some of the other people related to this guy are Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, John Steinbeck, and Jackie Kennedy. Go figure!

Wow, that's great! Neat to go back and trace whose "genes" you are carrying forward.

A distant relative did the research and provided my husband's family with a copy of the results. It's neat to look into it and see who else you are distantly related to. I always knew there was something special about my husband, and now this proves it!

That's great!
A few years back, a distant cousin traced the family tree on my Mom's side. Back in the 1500s, an ancestor of mine was made a count for his part in fighting during the Ottoman wars. We even have a family crest which shows an eagle clutching the severed head of a Turk in its talons.
