True; I think vaccinations in general defeat the purpose of having an immune system to begin with...so even if I wasn't vegan...I still have that mindset. It really is a personal choice though,no one should tell anyone what to do w/ their own body.

We skipped it. A lot of people we know chose to get it, and a lot didn't - each have their own reasons. Mostly I decided not to just because I didn't see a need to have us injected with another vaccine that might or might not work (manufacturer's information states it's not guaranteed), but also because I didn't want to expose my kids to a vaccine that hadn't yet been tested when it was approved for use. I'm also not sure but that we may have all had a mild case of it in the spring anyway.

Now - if we were in the USA, where they were using the FluMist vaccine, I would be much more adamant about avoiding it. That's the one that for 21 days after receiving it you're supposed to avoid babies, the elderly, and immuno-compromised people, because it's made with the live vaccine and could actually be passed on and make other people sick. Plus, their vaccines (both the mist and the shot) are made by a company called Baxter Pharmaceuticals, which is still under investigation for distributing contaminated vaccines. So that would be a huge NO WAY!!! for me.

As it is, ours seems to be safe, and the company seems to be trustworthy... so I'm looking at it more as a matter of just deciding whether it's necessary.

I haven't consciously decided to line up to bare my arm to have someone stick a needle in it...even the fact that its a H1N1 vaccine. They didn't know how the effects were going to be people who got the vaccine since it was not widely tested in Australia on Human trials. Many family members I know got severe reactions to the shot and had to be hospitalized for a few days after the shot was administered. Their arms swollen up like the size of melons 3x the normal size...my uncle explained as a severe rash that would not go away like it was burning sensations all over like under cold water it was fine I guess because it was numbed.

Yet I know others who didn't get much of a reaction. I am still uncertain about the vaccine when I came in contact with the first batch of people infected didn't stay home after their trip from mexico who were infact sick with it. Or when I went to college 3-5 people there all had strains of it...they say its advised to stay home but they didn't. Its like building up immunities they say is the key...but yeah think after all the warnings they had on tv and in brochures that people get the picture and stay home if they were sick.

So who knows but I did get this years flu shot it hurt like a Beeping beep...and had an allergic reaction to it.

My wife and I do not beleive in the flu or in the swine flu shots. Not needed unless you are in a high risk category.

Everyone here had both shots with no trouble whatsoever ,including my Grandkids. The last time I had the flu(8 yrs ago) I ended up with lung and throat infection and missed 2 weeks of work and I never want to be that sick again. I might hate needles but I hate the flu more!
