You`ve inspired me to bake a pie! I`m off to my parents` tomorrow - we`re celebrating my Dad`s b-day & my Lily dog`s b-day (my baby is 6, I feel so old!). Since my Dad is getting a cake of his own, this is for the critters (although I tasted it & it`s not bad,
might need to add some spices for the human version tho).
I made a crust using my recipe for cheese cookies & the filling was minced ham mixed with egg):

mmmmm apple pie!!
i love baking apple pies! i like to cook the apples before putting them into the crust so that there is no big gap between the filling and the crust when it comes out of the oven.

I like most any pie, I just find that after eating a meal I rarely have room for it. Guess I should just skip the main course and go right into desert!!! My favs are coconut cream, and lemon merangue. Yummmm!

Pumpkin is my all-time favorite! I swear I could eat the whole thing if my stomach was bigger! I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and supper! If Pumkin pie were the only food in the whole world I would be one happy lady!

But then again I wouldn't get to eat Cherry, and and and Apple, and Banana Cream, and Lemon, and Blueberry, and....

My faves, in no particular order, are apple, pumpkin, blueberry, cherry, peach, strawberry, and pecan.... probably more that I just can't think of right now due to brain fog
I don't really like coconut or lemon meringue but I can force it down if it's being served at someone's house
I can't eat rhubarb at all. Maybe if it's mixed with something else but not on its own.Last edited by thecountess; Sun, Aug 23rd, 2009 at 07:57 PM.

Yummm...I love pumpkin pie! And no need to save pie as just a desert...the whole meal can be pies...mincemeat, quiche, meat...etc. then follow up with the sweet pies (or vice versa).

Is shepherds pie allowed?

There are no restrictions on the type of pie you may have in the Pie Room. Even though I am a vegetarian, I will not prohibit non-vegetarian pies.
Membership is contingent upon being proud to identify yourself as a Pie Eater, which is noticably different from just someone who eats pie.

My mom tried the sherrif lemon pie once, only once. I guess that is where I get my baking skills.
I was walking in the yard yesterday and noticed that I still had some raspberries, pretty tasty too. Further down, I found some wildberries and apples in the tree. I should try to make something out of them. I did make raspberry pie once (not with store filling or tenderflake), only once. I added way too much sugar, some of it was still crytalized after baking. It tasted like tarte au sucre with some raspberries. Try and try again. My Queen passed out from pure bliss thanks to her secret Santa. Bless you kind angel

Aw, our blueberry tarts (ahem, little pies...) have all been eaten. I believe cherry tarts are next...
I have a hankerin' for lemon meringue, though, after everyone mentioning it!!!

haha I looooove pie too!! I just made a dutch apple pie the other day and going to make another pie tomorrow. Our apples are ready you see! The dutch apple pie doesn't have the usual second pie crust on top but a crumb mixture with brown sugar, flour and margerine/butter and cinnamon kind of like what you would put on top of a coffee cake and it is soooo good! The only thing is that I was using our little apples and it takes FOREVER to cut up enough! They are not quite crab apples-sort of between crab and normal apples. They also got hit with hail so alot of them I could only use half the apple...
The pie I am making tomorrow is called winter Pie and I am not sure why? But it has only one cup of apples which is alot easier to cut up!
It has carrot and raisins too and it actually tastes a bit like mincemeat when it is all cooked and it is sooooo amazingly goood!!! I am drooling thinking about it! Oooh and the spices in it-it has a nice spiceyness to it! I think it has nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon and salt. Then there is the sugar and cornstartch. HAHA I think I just gave pretty much the whole recipe! lol If anyone is interested in the recipe let me know. Hey we should post pie recipes on here! Ones we love. Oh I like pretty much any kind of pie also!
