Hey DaisyBear, if you're still worried about your doctor being a b*** about your request to vaccinate separately you could always go to your health unit. I always found going there was less of a hassle than my doctor.

As long as you go in determined adn educated they shouldnt' give you too much of a hassle.

My dr wasnt' gonna argue with me so he only gave what I said at each visit.

For me it was the health unit that acted like I was crazy.

Sadly, I'm not sure it will ever be undone. I think when you have a child with such special needs you look for answers anywhere. Some parents will cling to this as the reason and no amount of rationalization will help. I've seen parents put themselves through h*ll trying to "cure" their child's spectrum disorder. As a parent you look for causes and cures. I don't think this will ever die.

Hi daisybear...I just wanted to share my experience with you.

I brought up the conversation with my Dr. that I wanted to delay her MMR shot...he looked at me...he knew why...said, "You know you're being silly, but I'll respect your wishes because this is your child."

I got my vacs all on time...so did my cousins...so did their friends and my friends...etc etc etc and we're all fine....but of course, it's scary for a parent..especially a first-time one.

So what did I do? I waited. I spread out her vax schedule to something I was comfortable with. my DD got her MMR vaccine at 18 months and she's fine.

I was happy with my decision and I hope you are happy with whatever decision you make!!

Not getting your vaccinations is fine as long as almost everyone else gets vaccinated!!

A couple of meningitis scares back in my school days. At least we got a break while they were vaccinating.

I am not immune to Rubella. I found out when pregnant with my 1st. My doc said that it is likely due to the vaccination schedule they used when I was younger. She said many people in my generation are not immune. Although I would guess that it's giving a vaccination too early that makes it not work versus later. But there is a reason for vaccination schedules. Not trying to start a war or chastice anyone for their decision. I am just pointing out that there is some science behind the schedules.

Infamous Study on MMR Vaccine and Autism Link Takes Final Blow


Much has been made of the link between vaccines and autism, and nothing ignited the fire as much as a 1998 study by Andrew Wakefield’s scientific paper, published by The Lancet, linking the MMR vaccine to an increased autism risk.
That study has been retracted by 10 of Wakefield’s co-authors and The Lancet has called it “dishonest” and “irresponsible.”
Now the story has taken on another head of steam, pitting two esteemed British medical journals at odds.
The editor in chief of the BMJ, Fiona Godlee, M.D., says “the MMR scare was based not on bad science but on a deliberate fraud” and that such “clear evidence of falsification of data should now close the door on this damaging vaccine scare.”

But great damage was done. There is a lingering belief, despite a convincing body of scientific evidence to the contrary, that childhood vaccination is a major cause of autism. While vaccines can, rarely, cause severe side effects, the U.S. Institute of Medicine rejects the link between vaccination and autism.
Now the BMJ (British Medical Journal) goes farther, laying out a convincing case that Wakefield perpetuated a fraud.
An additional BMJ editorial claimed that , “A great deal of thought and effort must have gone into drafting the paper to achieve the results he [Andrew Wakefield] wanted: the discrepancies all led in one direction; misreporting was gross.”

So bad science or fraud? Don't think it matters, though of course they need to find out for sure. But the outcome is the same - the study was untrue, there is NO link between the vaccines and autism.
