Ricki911 - Hoping all turns out well and that the tests and proceedures aren't too uncomfortable. And that they are finally able to help your issues.
I vote for a Guinea pig. I had one years ago and she was a wonderful little creature, so easy to care for and had a wonderful personality, but then again I've had rabbits that had made lovely pets too.
Thanks all for the new words.
Is it my imagination or has the site finally started to speed up? Seems almost back up to the old site's speed.

Hope you are well again soon and that it is something really simple and not some of the more
serious things you have mentioned.

Thanks for the words everyone...
Question since I know there are a number of cat owners in this thread. I am looking at getting a kitty soon-ish and trying to gather all the required supplies before I bring one home. What are the absolute MUSTS for having a cat? I'm already picking up a cat-carrier from Kijiji and have sent out a few messages about scratching posts.
What is the best type of litter-box to have? Best food? What else....

Good morning, everyone.
Got home late last night & decided not to turn on the computer (& stay up til dawn, eeek). War Horse was very well done, but there were moments when the story seemed a bit over the top. Think Lassie Come Home with shades of Black Beauty. The battle scenes are very well done, but a bit scary for the 5 yr olds that were in the audience. Melanie Doane sings throughout the show (mostly to transition scenes). The puppetry was incredible (horses, a tank & a very territorial goose). Well worth seeing.
Better go back to my endless housecleaning (another day & my bedroom will be sparkly clean...assuming I avoid napping ).
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

For litter the absolute best solution I have found after living with cats for 45 or so years is a large rubbermade tote (the high-sided kind) with a hatch cut into one side about six inches wide halfway down the side. This allows you to put in 5 or 6 inches of litter (appreciated by the cats) which allows them to dig without spraying it everywhere and has sufficient volume to minimize odours. Combine this with a large, strong litter scoop for lifting out the clumps and a small dustpan/brush combo from the dollar store for sweeping up the bits that get out and you are golden. I have had the really expensive automatic boxes, the sifting boxes etc, and this is the best in my opinion. You may need a box or something or a small box for kittenhood, as little kitten legs are not that long; I use a rectangular baking pan for the really little guys. Add cardboard scratchers (sometimes Petcetera has them for $2 each, but you can get them in some dollar stores too), some toys (I need tough ones and circular ball tracks because our jack russell/chihuahua mix loves cat toys and steals and destroys them constantly). I use melamine toddler bowls for wet food because I have a dozen lift from when the kids were small; that way I can wash them constantly. I also have an automatic feeder for crunchies, but with one cat I don't think it would get eaten quickly enough to stay fresh.
