How often do you replace your cat's litter box?

Alright, I know this is a weird question but... tonight I was washing out one of the 2 litter boxes we have for our cats and I thought to myself, "Holy bejesus we've had this litter box for a long time. I wonder if I should replace it?"

I know there are A LOT of cat owners here on SC and I'm curious to know how often people replace their cat's litter box.

My cat at my parent's house has had her cat litter box since we got her - 7 years. No need to replace it. It's a nice expensive one with a lid

My cat is 7 tomorrow! And I've only replaced it once and that was when she outgrew it as it was a basic flat pan. Now she has a funky domed box and we use cat litter box liners in it so aside from washing it, we won't be replacing it unless something drastic happens to it.

never replaced it yet...will when the pee starts eating the plastic...I do wash it out though outside with lysol about once a month..

Yeah, we have 2 of those domed litter boxes. 2 cats both age 9. They are kind of weird. You'd think they would have each claimed their own box, but instead they both pee in one box and crap in the other... lol

I just got my first kitty a few months ago, I might invest in one with a door, because the one she has now does not have a door and every so often I see a pile of kitty outside the box...just chillin' there. I use natural enzymes to clean it about once a month when I replace the litter (I don't use traditional clay litter either).

i just got my kitties in feb, and got a nicer covered, door flapped, litter box... no plans to replace it any time soon, but thinking of getting another one for in my bedroom, then i don't have to move it when they need to be away from the chaos that sometimes happens in my household

We have had ours for a long time, and we have never replaced ours, it does get washed once in a while though.

i don't seem to need any boxes, anytime soon.
have 4 - and only need one, right now. none have lids.
not that you asked me, haha, but i use 'elegant cat'
litter - flushable, biodegradable. great stuff.

We have only replaced it when it has cracked - which we had to do last summer.
We scoop every day, and replace litter about every 10 days - wash box out with lysol or pine sol then.
We use No Name Clumping unscented litter - best litter EVER!

Mine got a new litter pan when we moved 4 years ago.
Minus some scratches it doesn't seem to show anywhere.
But it was $60 so it better last.
Both my parents and I use Maxx clumping at our houses.
I tried feline pine but he is so fuzzy that it was sticking to him and ending up all over the house. Plus DH was convinced that T didn't like his new liter.

I clean mine with hot water and vinigar.
He goes to the bathroom outside a lot, especially in the summer.
