Kitten Watch: Day One
Taffy was acting very odd (even odder for her) this morning, she was all meowy (well, she doesn't meow, she makes other sounds...) and totally clingy. Should have known something was up when yesterday she didn't mind being around Bobby (the dad - ack, he's only 8 months old, she's 4 yrs.) and they would be close when sleeping, sometimes touching - they have never, ever cuddled.
Anyway, so today she WANTED him to be with her, by her, she followed him around - but poor him, he was taking that as an invitation to play (lick the ear, lick the neck, BITE the neck!) - and then by the afternoon the boy was totally confused and was trying to mount her, sheesh! She's obviously emitting hormones...
So we had her box all set up, and she'd go in and out, coming to each of us for a snuggle, lots of noises, purring, and wanting ear rubs - then she started panting, off and on not very seriously - then that went away. She slept most of the afternoon, with Bobby, in the box.
Now, she's looking for somewhere to go... we have all the bedroom doors shut and she can't get downstairs. I have a feeling she'll end up under the china cabinet or something... but you can't really force that. We were very lucky the last time we had a cat give birth, once I knew it was really seriously happening, I just put her in the box, and that's where she stayed and gave birth.
The box is secluded, and she'll feel safe and warm, with lots of padding, and towel pieces she has slept on this past week..
So we'll see.... maybe we'll have some excitement soon!

It's almost 7:30 and nothing.... she's just been sleeping off and on, nothing happening. Bummer. I'll be not happy if it happens in the middle of the night!
It's always interesting to see the colours - Taffy is a Ragdoll mix, so she's got white paws and tummy, a beautiful taffy coloured back and sides, long bunny fur, and sealpoint ears, tail, and face patch. Bobby is pretty dark almost black, with grey tabby, bits of brown, white tummy and boots, orangey on inside haunches and nose!
So a combo between those two could be almost anything!
Taffy was born to a cat we had - mom was a brown tabby, dad was black with some white - an absolutely huge cat with absurd long curling whiskers and eyebrows. Taffy has those long whiskers, just more feminized.
She came from a litter of five, she was the last born, and came out as this plain cream coloured thing with reddish racing stripes down her back. The Ragdoll colours came over the first few months, up to about a year. One of her brothers was a snowshoe lynx, the others were tabbies.
But Taffy has gorgeous big blue eyes, so I hope those creep in somewhere to her babies!
So now we still wait....

Nothing
She's been pretty 'normal'. I was SO much hoping it would happen when my husband and son are home - it's kinda scary when I'm alone and it happens, you know not scary in a bad way, but...

when I was little I had a cat and she had a habit of getting pregnant-there was this darn stray male cat that always managed to get to her. Anyways the one time she was sleeping in my sister's room and was laying on my sister's pillow and started having kittens beside my sister's head! lol It can be scary but it is also soooo exciting! Well please update when there is any change!

Natalka, any word yet?
My friend`s cat (a pregnant stray she took in) was acting like that in the morning, but didn`t have her kittens till the following night. She had the kittens at the vet (my friend was working full time & had a disabled relative living with her, childbirth or rather kittenbirth was the last thing she needed to stress over), some time between 1am when they checked on her & 5am when they came & checked on her again (even vets need some sleep).
The real fun came when they were older & got into everything.

Nothing! But the cool part is that they are sleeping close to each other and actually touching (they just haven't been snuggling at all before this), so that part is wonderful.
We had a pregnant cat when our son was maybe 5 - one evening he had gone to his room to get jammies on before I went to read him a story, and he comes tearing into the living room, crying... when I asked him what was wrong, he said so tearfully,
"My bed is meowing!!!"
Sure enough, under his bed was mama cat and five little kittens, all very meowy!

awww Natalka that is soo sweet they are cuddling! Because you were saying a while back that they didn't like each other right? Well that is nice they like each other!
Sorry I had to smile when I read the story about your son-I feel bad for his bad experience but it's cute how he said his bed was meowing! lol

awww I love cats lol. I just adopted one a month or so ago. I feed the wild cats in my area everyday. There was this family of little pure black kittens and their mom who would hang out on my porch everyday waiting for me to get home and feed them. They wouldnt let me touch them, but they wouldnt run away if I stayed a foot or two away. Anyways, one day in the summer I opened my door to let in some fresh air, and one of the kittens came in and started roaming the house, so everyday after that he came in and out as he please. Around october he would let me pick him up and pet him, and since then he's been my baby lol. Hes such a good cat, hes never scratched or biten anyone, not even the vet! lol. I feel blessed that this cat let me into his life, and i'm so happy I let him into my house.
This is when Buddy was a wild cat roaming my moms house.

This is Buddy the day he adopted me
