This always happens to me, I click the button to reply to the thread and every single thing I wanted to say to everyone goes flying out of my head. I have to start making notes.
NS -- I'm glad you liked that picture, I loved it so much when I saw it, and I have been saving it for months Good news on the refund too, and all the good deals!
Rose -- I love that Briar Rose idea, it is very pretty! Go for it.
Amy -- Man, that is rough. A broken kneecap can be extremely painful, and can cause lots of numbness. She shouldn't be surprised if the numbness comes and goes over time, too, since that is quite common, even in very healthy people. Firstly, though, did they actually PUT a brace on her at all? She should definately not be walking around just on crutches with it. It needs to be immobilized to heal properly, especially at night when she is sleeping. If she torques it in the wrong direction, or accidentally puts too much weight on it, she might do more damage to the kneecap or the ligaments.
I am not surprised, however, that they don't want to do surgery. The high BP alone puts her in a high-risk situation, and combined with the diabetes, it is worse. The blood pressure situation is the main thing, as the anethesia puts a lot of strain on your heart. The diabetes can be a huge issue too, as it impacts your metabolic system when you are under. It can cause major hypo/hyer-glycemic problems, and all kinds of complications. Plus, you are required to fast for a long period before surgery, and that combined with the surgery itself alone can cause major complications.
If she has advanced osteopoirosis, that can be an issue with the type of surgery they are talking about, as the pin usually needs to be placed partially into bone matter, and her bones are majorly compromised by her condition.. this alone makes it unadvisable to pin her kneecap.
Either way, she should be wearing a brace ASAP. If she needs to wait till Monday to see a specialist, she should be in a prone or sitting position as much as possible, with her leg immobile. She doesn't want to risk inflaming the kneecap more, or injuring the surrounding ligaments.
When I was 16, I had a serious kneecap injury myself. I was playing field hockey, and some girl smashed me directly in the kneecap with her stick. It seperated my kneecap, and split my leg open to the middle of my shin. My kneecap was pinned in 2 places, and my leg was half-casted to keep my leg immobile. To this day I still get mild numbness in the area of my knee all the way to my thigh because of the injury. I know how painful it is, and I'm sorry she's experiencing it!
I hope that info helps. If you have any questions about what the specialist says, feel free to ask away.
HUGS to everyone, I'm off to bed! I get crazy typing when I start talking about medical stuff. LOL

It looks great Rose and the name is perfect!
Great job Haunish lol all I do is stick figures and dang it all my stick figures don't even measure up to other peoples stick figures! Really sad since I come from a family of artists both maternal grandparents, mother, sister, cousin and both the kids have quite a bit of talent. Son designs tats for his friends and had an offer for some of this designs from a tattoo artist there in Houston. For awhile there thought he might go in that direction, looked into the Art Institute in Houston but decided to do CAD instead.
lol NS you have your own fan site now how cool is that??? Very!!! Offered to be a fan as I don't think I could keep up with you as a stalker!
Won 500 coins in the PS lottery last night got a couple gold mystery boxes. Got a robot toy in one (really wanted one) and a very ornate chandelier in the other! Was so excited! Having an excellent time with dd. We went to goodwill today was hoping to find some 7's as the 8's I got last month are starting to need a belt but no luck. The only jeans I found the legs were too skinny and I hate it when I can't even get my foot thru the leg without a struggle. Did find 3 shirts I just loved and 2 of them were only $1.99. Looked and looked just sure there was something wrong with them but figure no one bought them cuz they were wrinkled and didn't look very good until after they were washed but once i washed them they look great! DD found a dress to go to the opera in didn't want too formal and found the perfect one. She also got a couple shirts that were really nice and not sure what they are called but its a long knit (very delicate lacy) that goes over a top can be worn with jeans or a skirt, very pretty and looked like it was brand new. Then we went thru my closet when w e got home and found some dresses that fit now so washed them up and since we're the same size now gave her one she liked lol was fun playing dressup again with her. Have a good night everone hugsssssss
Amy so sorry about your Mother inlaw hope se heels up quickly from this without any any

thorns and underbrush
(and get yer minds outta the briar patch!!!)
SD: nice clothes deals! i need new clothes. i did pick up a viny leather-look jacket..for 12.99 less the 30% off, (used and missing the damn belt..grr), but it fits perfect, so i grabbed it (now i need that crime scene scarf!). hard to find anything 2xl. but i am shrinking! down 5 lbs so far!
oh and i have to take a pic of this gothic look belt i found. it's wide, fastens with 2 gold snaps in front. the back is a wideer piece that is like suede with a ribbon that laces up the back.
HOW COOL IS THAT!! what can i wear it with? i mean, for everyday, besides my gothic dress that i scare boo with?Last edited by NSangel; Sun, Feb 22nd, 2009 at 10:34 AM.
