NS he is on meds I believe for his moods. He was on sleeping pills but with or without he claims he cant sleep right. That is simply because he is lying in bed all day and night so of course he can't sleep at night. He doesnt get it when we say his body is beyond tired and he needs to do something and keep active in some way, even walk in the mall or something. To him his world is over and sometimes I still fear he is going to take his life. I do not know what to do anymore with him, he refuses us to help and does not want to be moved into a home of some sort but like I said my folks can't deal with this forever either.

that's an awful thing to deal with amy. i donno wot you can do for someone who just won't help themselves. hurts to see a family member like that. when my friends dh was going thru something similar, her and his father had to sign papers and commit him to a hospital. took a while to find right combo of meds. but he's back home and things have improved.
bg: how are things going for you on that other issue?

Kekes I am glad you liked the "cracker pie recipe"
Has anyone else tried it yet?
It is really awesome, tastes and looks just like real apple pie. You can fool even the most die hard apple pie lover.

Does anyone know why the bottom of your feet just behind the toes would swell up? DD's are swollen and hurts her to walk, got her soaking her feet to see if that helps. Cant get in anywhere to see Dr.
Hope you all can have a great day.

Haunish, my mom had something similar but between her toes. Soak them in hot water and salt if possible but for my mom it was an allergic reaction to new clothing detergent. Could you have done that? Is she still on meds for her face infections? Maybe something is reacting and she is allergic to something

I just came in to post trout
bg: wot is wrong with him?
haunish: sounds like water retention from either too much salt, (esp in hidden food like pizza or spaghetti sauce), you can also get it from heat, but we don't have that problem right now. give her lots of water to drink and watch her salt intake. it should go down in a day or so, if not i'd be checking with the dr to see if it's something else.
where is lolcat when we have these medical questions. lol.Last edited by NSangel; Tue, Mar 3rd, 2009 at 09:59 AM.

Amy, this is gonna sound way off base, but have you thought about getting him a pet? Just having the responsibility of taking care of someone else can help.
I have a good friend who's been dealing with depression since she was a teenager. With meds, she was able to function (school, then work, social life, etc) for many years, but about 8 yrs ago, she got depressed to the point she could no longer work. She was frustrated & would call me every night crying, upset that she'd spent the whole day in bed. I convinced her to get a budgie, since they're friendly & fairly low maintenance. Now, the bird wasn't a miracle cure, but he did force her into a routine, which she needed to get control of her life. She's now able to live on her own again (was with her parents) & is doing volunteer work & a part time job.
Another friend fell into depression when he lost his job a few years back. Between the job loss & an older relative who needed a lot of care, the stress got to him. He wanted a cat, but couldn't get over the kitty he lost years before. I convinced him to get a rabbit. Having to take care of her, brush her, make sure she has fresh food & water, has given him a framework of a routine to get his life back on track. He's still working on getting his life on track, but he's come a long way.
Again, getting a pet is not a miracle cure, but it can force a person into a routine, which does help.
(Hugs) I know how hard it is to feel powerless when the ones you love are sick.
