I know this can be a touchy subject to some..And you arent for debates in this forum, so thats not what im looking for. but i was reading the paper this morning, and this article broke my heart. Some of you have probably already heard about the family in brampton that has lost two of there family members...Rambo and Brittany, simply because the "look" like pitbulls. (litterally.. ONLY because they LOOK like pits.. they have no bit or attacked!) I realise there is a bitbull ban in ontario and these dogs are only two, which technically makes them illegal, but they have done no wrong! They have been taken to the human society and are schedualed to be euthanized!!! ... i personally think this is awful. There has been a facebook group " Free Them Now" dedicated to this situation and there asking for peoples support to help return there furry family members home! There are a number of different ways there asking for help. So if you have a love for pittys, this may be something youd like to check out.... Pets are family. Thanks for anyone who took the time to read this =)

We recently had a by-election in my neighbourhood. When the Liberal candidate (actually his rep, since I apparently wasn't important enough for a real canvass) came knocking on my door, I told them that I used to be a staunch Liberal supporter, worked on a few campaigns to get their members elected, but I would never again vote Liberal as long as Dalton McGinty was in power. That until they get a leader who stops creating idiotic laws that are nothing but attempts to get in the spotlight & do very little real good, I am voting Conservative.

I know of one lady who had a Staffy (one of the breeds listed as being a "pit bull") who is no longer allowed to do therapy work with disabled children. It's ironic, cause that breed was originally known as the "nanny dog", since it could be trusted to keep an eye on the children when the parents were too busy to keep an eye on them.
If anyone has ever seen the Little Rascals films, Petey was a Staffy.
The irony in the case of Rambo and Brittany is that their vets have confirmed that they are NOT pitbulls. Apparently, it's the local animal control officer making the claim, after a nasty neighbour complained. While the AC officer has a very difficult job & not one that I would be able to handle, I doubt he/she has the same level of eduction regarding dogs as a vet.
Such a sad situation for all concerned.

Signed. People that make laws need to be better educated about the things they are making laws about!

I signed.that is so sad and so wrong..that dog doesn't even look like a pitbull, he looks more like a mastiff...my MIL has a purebred boxer, and my bff has a purebred American Bulldog, and neither are aggresive and they LOVE people and children...it's not the dog, it's how the dog is raised that makes a difference...those dogs did no wrong.

Well said!!!! Even dogs with a reputation of being the most 'gentle' & 'kid-friendly' can turn in the blink of an eye if they have not been raised properly - have seen it first-hand from a golden lab, which have a rep of being extremely gentle. We had a golden lab/retriever my whole life who was trained & raised properly, she was the most loving, caring wonderful dog anyone could ask for - but we worked with her from when she was a puppy and she was always cared for as a member of the family & not just the 'pet'

I signed..this is heart breaking. There shouldn`t be any breed specific bans, as it is how the dogs are raised.

thank you all so much!.. i love this forum.. i dont even know the people personaly.. just read the article in the paper.. but im sure they would be happy to know they have lots of support
and having a pit myself.. i couldnt imagine someone comming into my house and taking her away to kill her for no reason?....makes me sick (although she meets the apparent "restrictions" on owning one.. must be born before 2005, fixed, leashed and muzzled) although i dont muzzle her when i walk her........ big woop... sew me........lol i might let her lick you to death!.. thats about it... lol
