    Hi Skippy
I'm not in this situation yet, but it's coming soon for me..
Have you looked into home health care/home care service agency options? Where you could get assistance in the home, often tailored to what is needed so the person would still be home where it's comfortable and surrounded by loved ones. Even where someone could come in and cook a few meals, clean up once a week, etc.. It might ease the burden on your wife and it sounds like you're not in a position to be a key caregiver yourself, right? Don't know all the details of your FIL's condition or what's available in your area, perhaps you'd be eligible for a LPN even, but it might ease your fears stated previously by having someone else around?

It's a difficult phase of life for many of us (like in my family, I'll be the one with this responsibility) and I wish you the best.

Homecare is to come in this week to assess the situation.
    Thanks for making mention.

Grandpa lives in the depression era, so it seems. He does not want to spend any money. In this instance on new shoes, despite the fact his old ones should've been replaced long ago. A new pair would help his
condition but he's going to wear these till he's 6 feet under!
He has his mind made up that there is nothing wrong with them.

Oh Skippy don't get me started on the money issue. lol My dad is 86 and NEVER owed any money to anyone. Always paid cash etc. Excpet for their mortgage which was only $15,500 lol in 1966.

He has shirts and ties in his closet from when he worked and he's been retired 21 years. lol I took some of the white ones out to throw away and he said those are still good you can donate them. I put them up against my white t-shirt and his had actually turned YELLOW. lol I convinced him to throw them out, it was tough.

as DW&DD are going away for 10 days so I'll be home with Grandpa. Overseeing his diabetes regime and absolutely everything else.
Pray for strength and sanity, as my pain is at an all time high and I'm dragging my sorry self around.
    Thanks in advance.

ahh I hope your pain gets under control and hope grampa is easier to deal with,as for being a bit of a tight wad my Uncle[bless him he's passed now]was so cheap he once gave me 3 twenty dollar bills to pay a bill he took them out of his mattress they were so old they almost fell apart and they were yellowed I had never seen money that old,he would only spend on the interest each month from his bank account never a dime from the principal but his daughter who cared for him so wonderfully in the last 7 years of his life got a fortune, sometimes life is hard to get through Boy how I know that but we have to persevere god provides us with the answers that are not always so clear, all the best skippy I feel for you, you'll make it friend!
