    It was my wife's birthday yesterday and being laid off meant that it was going to be a little harder for me to give her a good gift this year.

    There were two things that she has mentioned repeatedly since her last birthday that I wanted to get for her:

    -the New Super Mario Bros game for the Wii (she loved playing Mario when she was younger and wanted to play it with her kids), and

    -a heating/massaging cushion for the car (she drives a lot because of her job and wanted to be more comfortable).

    I thought one or the other wasn't going to be in the cards this year, but thanks to SC I was able to get her both.

    Through SC I learned about Swagbucks, SuperPoints and a survey from McGill University, and using the Amazon gift cards I earned from those I was able to pay for most of the Wii game.

    And again thanks to SC I learned about a deal at Canadian Tire for an Obusform heating/massaging cushion -- regularly $89.99 on sale for $29.99.

    I gave them both to her yesterday and she loved them. We have our first New Super Mario Bros tournament scheduled for tonight

    Retail price: $56.49 (Wii game, tax incl.) + $101.69 (cushion, tax incl.) = $158.18

    My price: $14.49 (Wii game) + $33.89 (cushion) = $48.38

    Savings: $42.00 (Wii game) + $67.80 (cushion) = $109.80
