Thanks Rocky. Now at least this afternoon at around 2:30 pm it has started snowing and is still snowing here in TO. So the winter blues are legitimate now. It is supposed to snow all day tomorrow also.

Snow continues this morning.

An Alberta Clipper continues to give snow to the area this morning. Snowfall amounts of 8 to 10 cm have been reported as of 4:00 AM. An additional 5 cm of snow is expected before the snow tapers off to flurries later this morning.

Poor winter driving conditions are likely. Untreated roads may become
snow covered and slippery. A significant impact to the morning commute is expected.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas out there. Mind you, I believe TO is getting the lake affect white stuff. We don't have nearly as much, which is fine. Less shoveling.

GTA greets its first significant snowfall of the season

Here's hoping you set the alarm a lot earlier this morning as today will be a slow drive in to work. Roads right across the GTA are still snow covered as we remain under a special weather statement -- currently dealing with a second band of snow. Environment Canada is reporting as much as 10cm on the ground in the city, with another 5cm expected by the time this system passes. A number of single vehicle collisions are popping up across the city as police say many drivers are not driving to the conditions. There is also a problem on HWY 401 at Neilson and in Meadowvale -- a couple of jack-knifed tractor trailers have snarled traffic. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt is giving drivers the usual warnings ahead of their morning commute.

Bus & Flight Cancellations

As for bus cancellations -- we are still waiting to hear from most school boards, although we do know school buses for both boards in Toronto are running today. Dozens of flights at Pearson and Billy Bishop airports have been cancelled, so airline officials are reminding travellers to check their flight statuses.
