I bought a kitchen table from the Brick. The wood is warping and cracking, and the legs do not line up correctly, so it is wobbly. However, just before the service tech came to my house, I set a glade plug in on my table- It leaked, and took the stain right off! This is a small stain and I told the tech I was not at all concerned with it- It was my accident. I am very concerned about the whole table to being warps and cracked! And being so wobbly! I thought I was covered, I bought the extended warranty! When I called, they sent a technician to my house, who did not even inspect all the damages- he just took a picture of the table, and said it would be up to the store to decide. The store called me to say they would not be covering it as it was "customer abuse!" I assure you, it was not "customer abuse!" They are not saying the small damage I did cause is voiding the whole warranty, just that the whole mess is customer abuse. I was proud of my table, I took very good care of it- it is a lemon, and they wont hear me out- just keep saying it is "customer abuse" I am so sad by all this- I used to work at the Brick, and loved it, cared about the company, sent many of my friends there to shop, and they are treating me as if I am lying! I should also mention that 2 of the leather chairs have come apart at the seems and they are offering me a portion of the money I spent to keep them or $398 to replace them, but they no longer carry the set and I would have mismatched chairs for my crappy table!
So I have written this exact same complaint online at squeaky wheel dot com... Please view the complaint often- the brick gets an e-mail everytime someone views it! Maybe if enough people view it, they will help me out here!!

I dislike the Brick, always have. There customer service is terrible!
This is all a bit ridiculous...its a table for crying out loud its meant to be used for years and years and not fall apart! What do they want you to do, buy it and then don't touch it??
Have you written to head office?

I added some photos now, please check them out! I honestly did NOTHING to cause this damage! I paid $1200 bucks for this- which was a lot for me! I thought it would last for a few years you know! Thanks for your support! Please view the complaint page often!!!

Have you gone 'up the chain' with complaints to the company before going public?
Store manager, area manager, president? That's the way to go.

I talked to many people at the store- including the store manager, maybe is was hasty to go ahead and do this, but I did work there, and some of the managers are my friends, I also know the store manager as he was my boss for years! They were not willing to help and were actually kinda rude, so it's hard for me to not take it personally- since I know them personally!

Well, then, that's terrible...
Make sure you keep a complete documentation of all phone calls, email, snail mail, etc.
Facebook group - link to brick's complaint board

1. File a complaint with the Canadian Consumer Protection Branch (http://www.gov.on.ca/mgs/en/ConsProt/STEL02_168949.html)
2. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau
(http://www.ccbbb.ca/). There's a 'complain' option at the top of the page

yeah, i looked at your pictures too and that is totally ridiculous. how old is the table? i bought a "junk" table for my cousin's first apartment [i'm so sweet, i know. LOL. it was only suppose to last for a summer until they got a new one], it's been a few years now and that table is still in great condition.
i really surprised by the brick for treating you this way. the one we have in town seemed decent enough. i think next time i'll shop at the family owned furniture store instead, if this is how they treat customers.

We've had a horrible experience with the Brick and their " warranty". I will never buy from them again as it was way too much hassle to try and get something fixed. We went right up through the ranks, and pretty much were ignored.

that's such a shame, amy, sorry to hear it. there's quite a few here who share a similiar experience with the brick too... I'll definitely steer clear. I've viewed your complaint a couple of times (great idea to post) and I'll share it with some friends of mine who have been shopping around for similiar household items. best of luck getting this resolved, please keep us posted.

I had a similar issue, I had a cream coloured sofa set delivered and paid for stain guard on it - the guys that delivered it took the plastic off on the way in, set it on its side in the elevator so it was dirty there, which he wiped off with a rag which was also dirty and there were 5 huge black handprints on it.
I complained, they sent a technician and he said they were no longer liable for it since the plastic was off - well duh your guys took it off (if it ever existed on it)
I really really hate that store
