You can also try looking at gottarent.com and 247apartments.com. I'm from North York (Don Mills & Sheppard), just in front of Fairview Mall and Don Mills Subway Station but have to move to Kitchener coz my hubby got a job at Waterloo.

Back to Yonge + Eg...
There are a lot of nice buildings there. We were looking there and found 2 bedrooms for $1300-1400 (some utilities but parking extra) with move in bonuses.
The addresses are on Roehampton and Broadway.

realtor.ca
but usually slightly more expensive than craigslist/kiiji since the landlords have hired a real estate agent.

We used a real estate agent when looking for our condo (used him twice actually) and he was so helpful! I think we were really lucky to have an honest dedicated agent. All we did was tell him what we were looking for (in our case it was 1+1 bedroom condo, balcony, under $1600, close to TTC, new or newish building) and he did all the searching using his mls account. He'd send us detailed information of any places that matched our needs and we told him which ones we wanted to see. He'd set up the appointments and meet us at the building so we could see the suites. We ended up recently moving from our condo at Yonge and College to a brand new condo at Bathurst and Lakeshore with a lovely view of the harbour! If you don't want to use an agent, try searching on mls. It's a very helpful site.

I mostly love where I live too, although I find it kind of noisy. People with normal hearing wouldn't be that bothered though.
, let me know if you want to come in for a weekend or a couple of days of apartment hunting - the guest suite in my building is super-cheap and very centrally located (a block from the Eaton Centre).
Actually, while I doubt there are any two-bedrooms available here, the 600 - 700 SF ones probably go for about $1,200 - $1,400 not including utilities. Those would be another, say, $200 every six weeks or so, depending on how you use your appliances. I found it shocking until I realized how much of my money was going to pay off Enbridge and Toronto Hydro's debts. It's still shocking (and criminal, IMHO) but at least I don't think I'm personally consuming $90 of hot water a month any more.

if your bf is working downtown, look into the Annex too. I used to live there and moved last month a little north to be closer to my shop. For that amount of money you can find a nice, comfortable, spacious flat in a three-storey and the plus is that there aren't many tenants, hence less noise. You can also find a two-bedroom apartment on St. George for $1,500, easy. Just another idea if you don't find something in Cabbagetown that fits what you're looking for. Also try rentmaps.ca and urbanrenters.ca. Good luck and let us know how the search goes
