apart from the windows one there's also RID Relative in Distress scam happening across Canada, they called my Grandma who's 81 and pretended to be a Grandson stuck in Mexico and facing arrest if she didn't send 1350$ to cover the fees, when she said she has to call someone from the family to get a lift he insisted that she calls no one and that it's a secret that he doesn't want anyone else to know about...
This is the number they called from: http://www.whycall.me/770-875-5246.html
Luckily someone within western union caught onto the scam and told her that everyone's okey. Poor thing almost had a heart attack

Similar to this one??
I've had that several times over FaceBook, including a friend I was on the phone to at the time.
Oh! but she was stuck in London so I offered the services of my "neice' who worked nearby...well the person fell for it and I gave them the address of the nearest police station to the address they gave me and told them to ask for "Ima Hacker" who worked there....
I'm still getting the Windows one...I'm now asking where Mr Penguin has hidden my birthday pressie since they must know where it's hidden if they know it has a problem....
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Welcome to the Penguinocracy..One Penguin, One vote..I am The Penguin..I have the One Vote

This was the best thread ever. I enjoyed reading all of your experiences. The only one I have received so far is the one with Rachael on an automated call about reducing your interest rate on credit cards. It took up my whole answering machine once. Was not happy about that. The last time they called, it said to press #2 or something like that, and they would take me off their list. So I hope that works, cause we have been getting a lot of Rachael calls and I'm sick of her.
That radio station gag of calling Africa was a hoot. Thanks for the laugh.

I received one of these calls at my in laws but since I could not understand his heavy accent he got frustrated and ended the call but his last words were "god bless you" which I find really funny after discovering it was a scam...

OMG i got this to about a disney trip i apparently won but i knew it was fishy from the start she kept blabbing and blabbing how great it is and i need to give her my credit card number, this women was pushing so hard when i told her i'll think about it, she said i won cos i used my credit card and i found it funny but i told her uh no thanks.
THAN the next day i got a dude calling about the same thing saying i got a trip cos of my visa card i told him i don't have a visa and he's like are you sure IM LIKE WOULD I BE LYING? then he said oh okay but i cut him off and told him off that i'm calling the cops on him lol what idoits.
Please NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR give out your credit card number on a insecure website or on phone. It's easy reproduce and its a huge hassle

These are all reasons why I refuse to answer my phone unless I know the number. If it's a legitimate they will leave a message. Thank you call display.
