Update on the burnt pot: Soaked for a few days and scrubbed with SOS pad. Most of it came off but some burnt remained. So hubby used fine sandpaper and everything came out and my pot is as good as new. That was my go to pot for applesauce and cranberry sauce and pudding and pie fillings.

cath007 i usually bjuy the 10Kg bag of flour. I Put some into a Tupperware container large enough to hold about 2KG of flour and the rest i keep in the freezer. It lasts a long time. Ive been doing this for years and years and never had any problems. Put the bag of flour in a plastic bag so it wont spill out with punctured.
the oatmeal and brown sugar i also keep in tupperware containers. Ive never had any problems with bugs in the containers. I bought a ting at Dollarama to put in the brown sugar container so it doesnt go hard. Hope this helps you.

Aw @cath007 those pesky flour and dry food weevils get into most everything. SnowFlakey is right about the freezer solution. Since my freezer(s) are often packed up I divide up any large bags of flour, sugar, oatmeal, rice and use the FoodSaver to suck all the air out. The packages are taught like a freeze dried product would look. Then they sit in my stockpile room.
It is no reflection on us, theses weevils can be in the product when you bring it home!
Best of luck!!

I baked my double rise pull apart buns yesterday. They came in handy for brunch this morning as well. Homemade is so much tastier.

I've seen those @cath007 but have never tried using one.
On amazon.ca they are priced at 2 small for $11.74, or one larger for $7.05.
Methods that can be natural are placing a slice of white bread or a large marshmallow in with the bag of brown sugar making sure the bag is air tight when it is closed up ( a large ziploc bag perhaps ) .

My DH is making an apple pie this morning from the apples I picked in BC last weekend. 1 guest for our small turkey dinner tonight-so that means lots of leftovers this week.

cath007 try looking in the baking section of Dollarama or if you have a Bulk Barn in your area. It looks like a terracotta coloured thingy that looks like a bear. The picture is below. I hope this solution helps. Ihave tried some of the others but it never worked for me.
