Couldn`t sleep last night (was all stressed), so I started playing & made earrings (I found a box of beads I`d forgotten about for a few yrs - think I need to clean every inch of my closet more often & actually look inside the boxes!).
Tonight, I was at my Mon night social club & finished the necklace I started last week & made a matching necklace. It`s silver plated with shell & teeny glass beads.

This week's project was freshwater pearls (dyed blue) & silver-plated chain. It was a royal pain to do those teeny tiny links, but worth it in the end.

A couple of weeks ago at jewelry class/social night, one of the girls had picked up some funky looking beads that she thought were quite quirky...until someone teased her about her "fish eyes", so she handed them to me. So on Mon, she got to see my twisted sense of humour. She was laughing so hard tears were streaming down her face.

Oh & I'm moving up in the world. The first pic is coral & silver plated. Took all my gumption to work with the pretty stones, I was afraid I'd damage them!
The second pic is the bracelet I'm currently wearing. The stone is called Rainforest Jasper (Rhyolite). I'm starting to get less nervous about working with semi-precious stones.

They are both gorgeous! Are you thinking of setting up an Etsy shop, or selling elsewhere? Or are you just doing for yourself, for gifts, etc...?

For now I'm just playing & learning. I have the early stages of arthritis in my hands, so I'm also using it as a sort of therapy to keep my fingers limber (it's my way of justifying the expense, although so far it hasn't been that bad moneywise).
I have a few ideas for presents for friends for Xmas & b-days. I'm working on a bracelet for my friend right now to celebrate her sort of promotion (same level but 10x the staff & a bit more glory, hopefully). I'm thinking pearls, since they are supposed to symbolize purity, integrity & strength. The pearls I have here are freshwater & have a slight pink tinge to them, so they should be able to go with any outfit she wears. I'll post a pic when I'm done.

Wow those are beautiful!! I love jewelery, I'm thinking of learning how to make some basic stuff because I find so much of the stuff they sell in the stores is cheap garbage and they charge too much for it.

Thanks!
It`s really not that hard. If I can do it, anyone can.
& there are lots of neat little online tutorials to give you ideas & help with techniques. Some things can be a bit challenging, to say the least. The little links, for example - I must have destroyed 100 bits of wire before I caught the jist of how to make decent loops (and mine are far from perfect). I figure as long as I`m having fun, it`s the only thing that`s important.

Wow!!! I just read the whole thread. There are some amazin, crafty SC'ers! I've been making cold-precess soap for about 6 - 7 years. This year, I'm taking a break (busy DS!). I also wire-wrap beach glass and make polymer clay beads... However, since I discovered Smart Canucks, I haven't done much crafting!!! This thread has inspired me!!
