    From the Blog page:

Safeway: Earn 20x Base Airmiles or Save 10% on August 6 (Customer Appreciation Day)

On Tuesday 6 August, spend $35 or more at Safeway and either save 10% off your entire purchase or earn 20x base Air Miles on your purchase.
You must present your Club Card to be eligible for this promotion and $35 must be spent in a single transaction
At 95 Air Miles = $20 cash rewards: Spend $95 get $20 back in points or save $9.50 on your purchase so Air Miles are the better deal.
To use a proper comparison I'll use $40 exact purchase.

    10% = $4

    Base Miles X 20 = 2 X 20 = 40 = $4.20

So the ideal range is $40-$41.99 for AirMiles. Outside of those values you're better off taking 10% unless you spend the AMs on flights.

    Here's why:

    Say you spend $39.00 you'll get 1 Base mile X 20 = 20AMs = $2.10 vs. $3.90 @ 10%.

    Say you spend $43.00 you'll get 2 Base mile X 20 = 20AMs = $4.20 vs. $4.30 @ 10%.

    The same applies for $60 - $62, $80-$82, etc.

Im confused, did they double the value of airmiles cash? I thought 95 miles was $10

    Yup,95 miles = $10

What are you confused about? Are you referring to my 20Xs base miles post?

If you spend exactly $35 you'd only get 1 base mile as it's 1/$20 spent.

    So 20 x $0.105 = $2.10 in AMs but 10% of $35 is $3.50 so you're better off taking the cash.

Normally 10% Tuesday is 10Xs base miles. This coming one is 20Xs. Misleading as it sounds like you're getting a much better deal but in almost all situations except around the $40-$42, etc. range you're still better off opting for the 10% cash (unless you use the AMs for flights where they can have 2-3 times the value).

Unadvertised special on Barilla pasta good until Aug. 15.

    B3G30 2/0.95

If you've got coupons it's an excellent offer.

PS: I've scored next week's flyer already. Should have info up later. If you thought about buying Lay's potato chips this week @ 4 for $10 it's the same price next week but B4G15. However, the Old Dutch @ 5 for $10 still beats (except possibly on 10% Tuesday).

The .50 cent tear pad coupon expires today or tomorrow so go fast if you have those to use.

I think she is confused about the last sentence which is wrong:

Is the tear pad in Safeway by the pasta shelf? Is it 0.50 per box? If it is, then it would cost 1.50 each and get 10 AM?

The coupon was in safeway 2-3 months ago by the pasta shelf yes. If you buy lets say... 15 and max out the airmile per day offer you spend about $30 then you take off the $7.5 in coupons and that takes you to $22.50 out of pocket. Then you get back 151 airmiles... the extra one being for purchasing over $20.
151 airmiles is worth about $15.80 back.

The out of pocket of $22.50 minus Airmiles $15.80 value = $6.68 for 15 boxes of pasta or about .45 cents a box.

if you have some .75 cent coupons that work on this pasta and have a better expirey date wait until 10% tuesday.. the extra .25 cents a box off equals 20 cents a box... that 10% off will cover that making this a freebie.

I am assuming there is no more tear pad in Safeway now.
